Gracias a mi familia por enseñarme que el camino para aportar en cualquier ámbito es compromiso, motivación, esfuerzo e ilusión. Y también por ser realistas y aceptar que la suerte juega un papel muy importante. Moltes gràcies.

I am grateful to the examination committee (especially Prof. Zimmermann), my direct supervisor Prof. Sevenich, my lab colleagues, Prof. Rödel, all collaborators (in particular Prof. Imkeller, Medyouf, Harter, Plate, Heikenwälder, and radiation team), Prof. Wels and Prof. Greten.

I defended my thesis at the Goethe University Frankfurt on February 10. It has been a long journey. My biggest hope is that I contributed, in a very tiny way, to bring suggestions on potential targets to increase the therapeutic opportunities of patients with brain metastasis.
