it's also really difficult to determine the effects of altered DNA on humans beyond very basic and obvious traits, both because it's a very complicated topic with limited data and because the well has been very deeply poisoned with racism and eugenics

check out Kamigakari: God Hunters if you want to see some real dice tricks

you can use dice for skill check values, but you also have a pool of prerolled dice that you can swap into your skill check, and you have to spend specific values from your pool to activate skills

officially it's "thanks for feeding us when we showed up with very poor planning and would have starved without your help, we'd never have been able to repeatedly betray and murder you without that!" day

which is imo kind of even worse

not 100% sure but it looks like a high-density closed cell foam, most likely polyethylene

www.foambymail.com/product/poly...

(if it feels rubbery or hard, instead of densely squishy, then I'm wrong, though)

the information provided is wholly unreliable, so you can continue thinking about the question as if it had never been answered; because it has not been answered

depending on how you count them my game has either infinite or one

six seems like a reasonable middle ground

I was just thinking about combat as puzzle vs combat as execution yesterday

length of combat, attrition and other bits are a big part of that distinction, but randomness of combat is also a big distinction between puzzle and execution

(this isn't related to your thread it just made me think of it)

so i'm attracted to very light social mechanics that can be boiled down to "talking to people", or to social mechanics like PF2E that allow for mechanical elements to be included or altered in different ways based on the person or people you're talking to, instead of universal social mechanics
November 22, 2025 at 7:47 PM
for me at least as a trad-adjacent player a big part of why I hate almost every social mechanic I've encountered is that they do not accurately represent my experience of brain

mechanics like believing something because someone repeated it loudly enough, with no evidence, simply can't happen for me

this thread made me think of a hypothetical 7PP-inspired diplomacy-like

each player is a wizard, and together you can do anything. some things require majority/supermajority/unanimity. different goals, methods, and victory conditions.

gameplay is convincing everyone to vote for things

there are games that I think are less interesting than they could have been due to using an existing system instead of a bespoke one, but the only time i'm that mean about it is when they win awards for their mechanics design without actually doing any mechanics design
November 22, 2025 at 3:59 PM
this is where I'm at too; I do think it's possible for a game mechanic to be an advancement, innovation is good, and systems design is a real, valuable, and important skill

but you still shouldn't describe a game as 'worthless' just because it chose to invest its effort elsewhere

I'm not familiar with any particular change, other than in general crucifixion being less likely on bsky than on twitter

I used Old Church Slavonic as rhe basis for the Bogok language of Bogorok Miju in my campaign setting. It's a good language!

It's basically the inflection point where the writers started believing the propaganda.

Yeah these days I always do hard/classic for FEs. I played PoR a long time ago and don't remember if I was on normal or hard.

Personally I found the GC one (Path of Radiance, if there's more than one) to be too easy and got bored.

GBA ones win by animations, though, especially crit animations. That puts them into first place imo.

if you play a TTRPG online it's a CRPG

if you play it in Japan it's a JRPG

if you play it under the ocean it's a SeaRPG

if you play it in a mushroom circle it's a FeyRPG

one of these years I should really try to make it to unplugged (was never going to be this year even if I had tried, though)
