Any real hero doesn’t set out to be one. Timing and circumstance calls on ordinary people in extraordinary situations to stand or fall. The hope is that good people - good Librarians - stand and speak up. 6/

The librarians in this movie are fighting for communities. For people - for students & kids - that they know. I don’t think they went into it thinking about being heroes or courageous. I bet they just wanted their communities to have the access to the books & materials they needed and wanted. 5/

But this is not a perfect world. The movie gets it right - showing that libraries and library workers ARE in the fight. Not to save the country or the world or the universe, but for their communities and their patrons, which - library by library - makes up some of the world at the very least. 4/

I get that and in a perfect world that would be the way things work. Library work should not be controversial (although when you really sit and think about it libraries are one of the most radical concepts ever invented). 3/

Anyone that has been friends with me for any length of time knows that I love my librarians. And I know that many if not most of my librarians absolutely loathe the idea of lionizing the profession. As mentioned in the movie, most librarians just want to do the work and get on with their lives. /2

We didn’t forget! It’s just further down the to-do list!

Ugh…. Good luck! If you find a fountain solution let me know. I thought I heard a rumor of a ceramic one that didn’t need filters, but I haven’t investigated in a while.
