In the past 30+ years, I've seen many concerts at the Petrillo Music Shell during Blues Fest and Taste of Chicago. I don't think I have never seen it this crowded before. The crowd was overflowing into the surrounding streets (Jackson, Columbus, Monroe)

He announces big tariffs and the markets crash. He and his buddies buy stocks. He then calls off the tariffs, stock prices increase and they make a killing. This would be a crime by anyone else.

Taxpayers should not have to pay for the misconduct of individual police officers. Here's a possible solution that I have been thinking about for years (the idea may have originated from someone else. I don't remember):
Every police officer should have an insurance policy that covers lawsuits against them. The municipality that funds the police department would pay for each officer’s basic policy. If the insurer determines that an individual officer is a high risk due to lawsuits or conduct complaints against them, their rate could be increased. The officer would be required to pay the difference between the basic policy and their new higher rate if they wish to stay on the force. This would discourage bad behavior and encourage bad cops to leave the force. Example: let’s say each officer’s policy is negotiated to be $50 per month. This would be paid by the police department. An officer with several legitimate misconduct complaints against them may have the cost of their policy increased to, say $75 per month. The police department would continue paying $50/month and the officer would be required to pay the other $25 if they want to stay on the force. Even conservatives should support this plan since the private sector (insurance companies) would be weeding out bad cops by penalizing their bad behavior and lowering their net pay. Even with insurance companies’ profits, it should save the cost to taxpayers in the long run by reducing lawsuits against bad cops who would eventually find another line of work.

It’s nearly impossible to convince any teenager to take a low-paying job and work their way up when they see that everyone they know who have taken that path are still living with parents and taking public transportation after many years of doing that. Meanwhile, they see others who have chosen a life of crime driving around in expensive cars and living the dream life. Without good opportunities, the wrong path will continue to be irresistible to far too many of our young people.
