Free online workshop, 24th October, 4-6pm: Environmental Puzzles in Twine, an interactive story-telling tool. First hour covers the basics, then the second is a step-by-step guide to a building a simple puzzle.

Saturday 12th July CAMBRIDGE POETRY FESTIVAL 50th ANNIVERSARY PERFORMANCE @ Pembroke College Auditorium 6.30–8.30pm Free entry It’s been half a century since the first Cambridge Poetry Festival was launched, organised with the express aim of being “diverse, innovative and international”. More than 100 poets, artists, musicians and literary critics contributed, including Miroslav Holub, John Ashbery, Ted Hughes, Charles Tomlinson, Veronica Forrest-Thomson and Roy Fisher. This one-off anniversary performance features readings of poems old and new, with a focus on revisiting the work of those poets who performed at the original run of festivals from 1975 to 1985.

It is an exhibition of students’ work produced in response to poems, made in collaboration with the poets who wrote them. The exhibition will be running from 19th-21st June open 10am-6pm daily. Join us for a one-night-only celebration once the exhibition has closed to the public for live reading, a chance to meet the student artists, sale of the artworks and souvenir postcards and prints.

Friday 13th June Magdalene Poetry Society presents: THEOPHILUS KWEK @ Cripps Court, Magdalene College 8.00pm Free entry Join us for a reading by Singaporean poet Theophilus Kwek, whose new collection Commonwealth has just been published by Carcanet. Kwek has been twice shortlisted for the Singapore Literature Prize, won the inaugural New Poets’ Prize in 2016 and was the youngest recipient of the Cikada Prize for poetry that ‘defends the inviolability of life’.

The #Cambridge #Poetry Festival returns in 2026. This year it's the 50th anniversary of the original 1975 festival, so under the CPF branding, we're helping to promote a whole load of Cambridge-based poetry events over the summer.

50th anniversary of Cambridge Poetry Festival. The Cambridge Poetry Festival was founded in 1975 by Richard Berengarten, originally running for ten years. It will return in 2026, headed by a new team. To mark its 50th anniversary, we wanted to highlight some of the poetry events and readings taking place in Cambridge this summer – including a special anniversary reading of work by poets who performed at the original run of festivals from 1975 to 1985.
