The city that is godzilla goes to war with a living meteorite that towers above the clouds KAIJUNE DAY 30: EXTINCTION It came from the sky, screaming through the soundless depths, carrying the seeds of devastation. The earth screamed with the strain of the walking city. The sky rent by the explosion of the sea as the Seed rose from the depths and unfurled, like a terrible flower blooming, like an ancient predator stretching, like doom itself made manifest. How long had it drifted through the silent cosmos? What endless sleep had we interrupted with our reckless ignorance? What terrible joy did we inspire with this colossal monument to our pain? The twisted father was quiet, and in his silence his fear screamed. And we waited. Humans and our Academy of hope and pain. The Twisted Father and his hideous children. The Lord of the Grave and the offspring of sorrow. Waited to see if dawn would bring more than ash and ruination. And two mindless gods went to war.

A winged dinosaur shaped behemoth made from a city has wrenched itself free from the earth and stands on legs made of metal and stone and earth. Through it flows fire and lava KAIJUNE DAY 29: METROPOLIS REX It answered the song. The Gravelord sang, and the city itself answered with a roar of rubble and dust like every earthquake ever. A groan like the planet itself mourning, a cacophony of cracks like the sky breaking. Even from miles away from the city we could see it. A hunchbacked beast sloughing the earth from its back. And through all the chaos the Gravelord sang. A song of triumph now, of fury and bitter unanswered pain, the Black Ichor in its veins throbbing in time to the heartbeat of the living city. And above the din the song ceased, the earth still shuddered and shifted, but the raising itself was done. And a clarion call of challenge rang out in a thousand thousand voices. And in every mind we heard the answer. YOU DO NOT UNDERSTAND I AM NOT THE PROGENITOR YOU WILL WAKE THE SEED FLEE LORD OF LOST SOULS FLEE SPAWN OF SOIL FLEE

A monster shaped vaguely like a man covered in bones and spikes sits atop a a monster shaped vaguely like a horse, with 6 legs, and too many ribs KAIJUNE DAY 28: GRAVELORD It came with a song. Exodus was the only option. Hunter Killer knew too much. They had been the first, the first we had thrown sobbing into the titan fueled nightmare, the first to do battle for us, the first to be lost to our enemies, the first to return changed. Which of the others would be taken next? What further horrors would that horned bastard craft from their twice unwilling flesh? We made our way out of the city, decoy groups on the surface, others in tunnels expanded or freshly connected. Weeks of furtive despareate movement, they were out there and we did not know what they planned, but we had no choice. The city was lost. There is an absolute silence to a dead city bereft of human souls to fill it. In that cathedral to loneliness the sound of titanic hooves on asphalt echoed across the emptiness. Graveside was not dead, could not die it seemed. It had taken the Steed, after what titanic struggle had the titanic horse shaped beast been tamed we would never know. But the howling insanity of Graveside had fused its choir of grief fueled corpses to the unwilling Steed, and so it slowly wandered the desecrated halls of our monuments to ourselves. In the silent halls a chorus rose, a thousand thousand voices wailing in pain and fury, the song of Graveside. Winding through collapsed buildings and bloodstained streets, past the charnel pits and the battle ruined harbour, across the cracked and blasted streets, through sewers and tunnels and parks and homes abandoned - into the very bones of the city itself. And the Ichor stained city answered.

Following the seed of devastation on solar winds. A pinpoint of light in the distance of every conflict. A too bright star. A faceless watcher. To what purpose? To watch us fear and hide and scurry? To watch us celebrate our destructive potential and then recoil in horror at its futility? To watch the ritualistic sacrifice of numbers we cannot even admit to ourselves to the hunger of the Genesis Engine? To see children sent to war in suits of flesh and pain again and again and again? To see the charnel pits of our hubris and waste spawn things that even our enemies saw as nightmare? I am tired. Tired of the twisted creation and unfathomable destruction. Tired of the things we told ourselves we had to do. Tired of the look in our volunteers eyes when we send them to the Engine. The stage was set. And the Seraph watches.

Dreadnaught had laid waste to Graveside. The Twisted Father had returned. The Dead Man's Hand had been seen mutilating both the Highway and Steed, none the worse for wear for all the beating it had taken from the Hammer. There was nothing else to be done, it would be a battle, a show of overwhelming force, everyone we could bring to bear sent at that horned bastard, maybe we could wring answers from it before the tidal wave of monstrosities could decimate our paltry few. Yes, yes, we would have our pound of flesh, it mattered not the confusion, or the despair, we could do something - well we could send them to do something. We sent to the barracks for our tiny cohort of warriors. We found an unfamilair sight. They all looked to the direction of the sea, and they were weeping. This is definitely one of my favorites from the series.

What the purpose, what of the endless parade of seemingly near indestructible monstrosities, what the point of the random and wanton devastation. There were more than enough of them, there had always been more than enough, they were going to - FEAR NOT THUS HAVE I SOWN THUS DO I REAP CELEBRATE IT IS TIME FOR THE HARVEST

A large ankylosaurid with a railgun for a tail firing a giant laserbeam KAIJUNE DAY 24: Dreadnaught It came with spears of fire. A lance of nightmarish light blasted across the landscape. It burned trees and buildings, raining ash on the city A great intake of air, a thrum of energy building to a crescendo and a beam so intense it seemed like a bar of liquid white fire. It was not directed at us however. It was directed at Graveside. We assumed that the titans we had made, these chimera, these Kaiju, we thought that they were the weapons manifest. But even as we deployed them once again it became clearer that whatever the plot of our visitors - they did not fear us. What we did intentionally was to be observed, studied, kidnapped for who could know what unholy purpose - but not feared. The things we wrought accidentally in our desperate attempts to not just defend ourselves but to assert dominance. That they found alarming. Alarming enough to deploy weapons that we could barely comprehend. A pit of mangled Kaiju parts and a thousand thousand dead, vomiting forth not just a tide of Black Ichor but both the Dead Man's Hand and Graveside, insanity and sorrow, the heaped corpses of a million mistakes. The embodiment of our callous expediency. It came with a lance of fire, our bitter enemies unleashed hellfire in fear of the blight we wrought in the name of efficiency and sacrifice and power. And Graveside did burn. It howled and thrashed and wept bitter tears of Black Ichor. And as the cleansing fire stripped layer upon layer of gnarled bone and twisted flesh it laughed.

A quiet voice, a young voice, firm and determined. “I will be next” We were at the Academy arguing bitterly about what was to be done. Graveside was on the field, and that meant that whatever had happened to Dead Man’s Hand there were again 3 factions on the field and we were short a defender. Hunter Killer was gone and by now we had abandoned the search, instead deploying our titans one at a time to patrol in a futile attempt to assert some control. And a voice cut through the din of engineers and military personnel - a figure at the door, framed by the orange glow of the corridor lights. "I will be next" Short, quiet, dark skin, too much hair on their head. The uniforms were a new addition, a rank and number designated on the shoulder, in the Academy they were numbers, names were hard for the engineers. We had decided it was better for all. Still, they insisted. "Three is not enough, I have spoken with the others. I will be next, I will go into the Engine." Command was willing, if the match was correct it was up to the Engine whether the subject survived the transformation or not and they were indeed a match. Gorilla and tiger, a good match, we needed a bruiser after all, some bulk, to fill the gap left by our loss. They were solemn, but a keen eye would see the spots of tears on the floor as they waited before the platform They walked in. The Engine roared to life. And a Savage King came forth.

A towering figure made of bones and sinew stands on two digitigrade leg, no visbile arms and a chest made of skulls. The face is a giant skull with a beard of dripping hair, spewing spit and bile from the large jaws. KAIJUNE DAY 22: GRAVESIDE It came from suffering. The Hunter Killer was lost. Gone. Stolen. We had sent the others searching but to no avail. The Shade was in hiding. The Herald was nowhere to be seen. The Dead Man's Hand had either been vanquished or disappeared to its own unspeakable purpose. The Ambusher had taken the Hunter Killer once. Then we had seen - but what do you do when the lights go out and a colossal being is just gone like it never existed? And in the rubble and the mud of the pit something stirred with their pain. The other academy volunteers were inconsolable. None of us could fathom what it meant to embody a being of that much power. To be forced into the Engine again and again, to undergo that horrifying transformation again and again. And now one of them was just gone. Again and again they went into the Engine, and again and again they found nothing. And in the blood and Ichor of the pit something drank their sorrow. The three remaining Academy volunteers - no, not volunteers, veterans, they had lost a member in battle, they were veterans - had returned from another searching trip. They had collapsed, sloughing off biological material and Ichor, venting the Thunderers energy. Returning to their bunks and lapsing into bitter silence. And in the nightmare and horror of the pit the Graveside stitched itself together from their pain. And walked into the world trailing despair.

A creature with a massive spread of blue antlers floats on the wind, with giant hand shaped wings, a vaguely humanoid body under the wide head and a length of tail covered in spikes It came bearing light. The alarms sounded. There was another titan incoming. From the sky it came, dwarfing the Shade in size, a huge array of horns reminiscent of the Twisted Father, a glowing heart that we knew promised nothing but pain. Clearly at some point the battle between the Dead Man’s Hand and our inscrutable enemies had concluded in some fashion, and we were once more the target of their ire, and this new haunting and terrifying foe was to be our challenge. We reviewed our class of volunteers. More and more they stared at us, their eyes distant and hollow. By all we could extract they did not remember their transformations, not really. They had nightmares of course, strange sounds in the night, they were afraid of the light more than the dark. Their skin was marked in odd places, their eyes shifting colors in the dark, tiny sparks drifting across a field as they caught the light. History would record these brave soldiers of course. Tell of their heroic sacrifice, their studies at the Academy, their time in the field, their hard won battles. Humanity would be the inevitable victors, and the records would be carefully constructed to tell a better truth of the hardships we faced and how we triumphed over them. And so they went to war, the hard-scaled Rattlefox and the savage Flying Jaws, the devious Krakenwulf and of course our oldest champion, the brutal Hunter Killer leading the way. Bellowing and hissing, roaring and trumpeting, they would do what needed done. When it was over, our volunteers wept openly for the first time in months. There had been no battle, they had set forth to attack, the Herald had opened its arms wind, and issued forth a blast a light and sound that had frozen all, human and titan in their tracks. When all eyes cleared we understood. The Hunter Killer was gone. No scent on the breeze, no trail for retrieval. The Herald had descended from the sky and stolen our champion, and this time we could not get them back.

A weird combination of rattlesnake and fox, a cobra hood esque where ears should be, the rattle is enormous and covered in blades KAIJUNE DAY 20: RATTLEFOX We forged it from cunning and cruelty. The engineers were hard at work salvaging a fleet of heavy land vehicles to transport the Engine, it was too valuable to leave vulnerable in one place. We would need at some point to be able to deploy our own titans in stealth, to regain some sense of surprise in our ceaseless pointless fight with the incursion of abominations. For once we had some sort of respite. What awaited in the aftermath of the conflict between our foes and the Dead Man’s Hand we could not fathom, but for now it seemed that whatever their plans were they had not counted on the twisted pile of filth and fury that had spawned from our desperate bid for our own defenders. It seemed an affront to our enemies in a way that our own titans were not. With the spectre of an unforeseen escalation we worked on the Academy. We were giving these children a glorious opportunity to be part of the resistance. Access to new fields of science, a front row seat to the triumph of humanity! And it turned out that the transformations - the successful ones at least - were essentially indestructible, a confirmed construct could be a new kind of human! The gratitude towards us for these gifts wasn’t there yet, but it would be. Venom, we would need poison. We had to be able to rot our enemies from the inside, and a titan would be forged that could do it. With a new kind of weapon we could escalate our defenses. A graduation. An escalation. An ambush predator. A rustling rattle like a gigantic forest in the wind.

A large undersea creature with a head within a head, 4 splayed parts like halves of the upper and lower jaws of a large reptilian, two enormous hands above a pair of smaller ones and a lower half of roiling tentacles. A hole in the chest shines with red light and silhouettes a humpback whale floating in front of it KAIJUNE DAY 19: HOLLOW It came empty. In the deep the Hollow waited. The Dead Man’s Hand was ripping at the Hammer. The unholy crustacean was seemingly impervious to the obsidian nails and blows of the massive fists of the twisted flesh hulk. The Hammer was almost toying with it. Terrible claws ripping huge gobbets of stinking flesh, and delivering them to its gaping maw. And in the deep the Hollow listened to the songs of giants. The living Artillery had fled, guarded by Cassowary. Our own behemoths had reverted to their base humanity and we were frantically studying the open wound in the ground that had birthed the hand. What else would be birthed from our festering regret. And in the deep the Hollow studied the ocean. We worked on getting the Genesis Engine mobile, repairing the damage that had been done, preparing for what we did not know, but preparing nonetheless. And in the deep the Hollow tended a garden of the unimaginable.

An giant crustacean menaces a coastal city, with two enormous claws shaped vaguely like dinosaur skulls KAIJUNE DAY 18: Hammer It came to crush. The Dead Man's Hand was insane. What was clear from the absolute unholiness of its form was that this was made from people. The area around the mausoleum - the poetic name for the yawning pit we used for the failed experiments of the Engine - was a mess. The land had crumbled into the gigantic hole when the Dead Man's Hand had hauled its horrific form out. The scream came from a million voices as it sped off into the darkness like a mountainous half formed rat. The fight in the hills had devolved into a days long game of gigantic cat and mouse, Cassowary’s lethality meant that it could rebuff the attacks of the Flying Jaws and the exhausted Hunter Killer and Krakenwulf could barely present a threat. It could not close on any to finish the job without the wounded Living Artillery being finished off so they retreated desperately. When the Dead Man’s Hand loped onto the scene wailing like the doom of all men - every one of them turned and fled. It was a humbling thing to see a mountainous monster shudder in fear. To see its towering legs quiver. To hear a screech not of unfathomable rage but a keening whistling whine of discomfort. A days long war of flesh and blood and Ichor and fire, and the Dead Man’s Hand sent them all reeling. We could not fathom what our answer would be to this thing, we could force as many “volunteers” as we liked into the Engine, if the control implants couldn’t force them to fight then what use were they to face this new nightmare? Our enemies however were faster to their answer. The next day the Dead Man’s Hand was at the shore, wailing its terrible chorus into the waves. And larger than any titan before the Hammer rose from the depths.

Ours, Theirs. History will record that we were right. When this conflict is over it will be clear that we did what we had to do. Hubris. Our own confidence that we understood the purpose, the nature of the conflict we found ourselves in. That we could outthink a mind so alien. Hubris, that the chaotic storm of our planet, that the barely leashed insanity of humanity was a predictable variable in a journey of exploration? Conquest? Research? So, so primitive, so limited. You may believe the lies you tell yourself about who you are. We did. We do. We don't lie, it is the truth, it is a better truth, a necessary one. What choice did we have but to form the Academy, our little school of horrors. What choice but to gather volunteers, kicking and screaming? What option but to send those successful ones into the Genesis Engine again and again, to fight and die and fight again? What choice but to send the unsuccessful to the pit, where the ichor flowed and the ashes rained? Could you have done any better? Hubris. The Black Ichor flowed, we plotted, the Twisted Father schemed, and the Dead Man’s Hand came for all of us.

A roiling spray of black goop, lit from within by fire, there seem to be mouths hands and claws within the oily substance KAIJUNE DAY 16: Black Ichor It flowed. It seeped and stained and bubbled and dripped. It sputtered and eddied and roiled. It boiled and murmured and burbled and squelched. It bled and pulsed and pumped and crashed in waves of ebon. It looked like old blood, like hot tar, like fresh drilled crude. It flowed through the pipes at the heart of the Genesis Engine, it dripped from the jaws of the Hunter Killer, it oozed from the bloody furrows in the Living Artillery. It was in the deep sea, the high places, the city and the forest, it was everywhere and once it had marked all things it would gather. It waited.

Kaijune Day 15 - Cassowary #kaiju #kaijune #art #artist
A large blue trex with 2 pairs of arms, one pair reptilian, one pair feathered scythes, with a throat glowing red and a triangular horn on its snout. It came with terrible claws Flying Jaws' tactics were taking a heavy toll on the giant Mortarus, the winged nightmare somehow managed to dodge the high speed boulders, and when they burst a quick spin meant that the boulders missed the delicate underside of the beast and hammered instead into the heavily armored back, thick scutes and plates deflecting the high speed impacts of the projectiles. The living mountain could not turn in time to bring the terrible cannons to bear on the foe that rip and tore at it relentlessly from above, and slowly it began to succumb to its wounds, slumping as it desperately chewed stone to create more projectiles in its internal furnaces - and even as it retreated it the ground hummed with a slow pulse of energy. It began backing away, retreating one ponderous step at a time diving attacks continued to bleed it - while up the slopes on the outside of the city came the Hunter Killer. This fight would need to end quickly. The Shade had not been seen since it had dealt with the Krakenwulf in a most conclusive manner, the best we could hope is that the black shade would stay away while our own titans drove the living artillery away. Another slashing pass, another bellow of pain, and the gargantuan bulk of the living artillery finally went down on two of its many knees, and an unfamiliar figure of cobalt blue and scarlet emerged from a crevasse in the earth. A plume of black and blue flame burst into the sky above the titans battleground. A howling basso screech tore the air. And a fifth titan joined the battle. The Cassowary was far quicker than the living artillery, lashed out with bolts of black fire that scorched earth, and with terrible ripping claws laid furrows in the heavy scales of the Gatorbat. The Hunter Killer closed with the red and cobalt giant, but they were exhausted from its own battle and the long march. Scythes whipped and jaws snapped, wings and claws and teeth and fur, a storm of thundering roars and black fire.

It has large ears and a protruding nose with a spike on the end KAIJUNE DAY 14: GATORBAT We forged it from jaws and wings The Gatorbat burst into the sky on leathery wings - the Ursa Orca and Krakenwulf were still in pitched combat, but the shelling had to cease soon or the damage to the Genesis Engine would be irreparable, even the structures next to it were not safe. Caught a glimpse of a gaping maw with too many teeth, and a snout like an axeblade, it was still a flutter of fear to see something that large move that fast. For miles around everyone paused dizzy as a sonic burst drove everyone to their knees, even the titans - but the twisted orca nature of the Hunter Killer was never stunned - only paused in recognition of a call both unfamiliar and not. The clouds were rent as the newest titan climbed, searching for the source of the bombardment, the sound of launching never ceased but the impacts receded into the distance as it was clear that the shattering boulders were seeking a new target. Hunter Killer took quick advantage of the situation, seizing the Steed in both sets of terrible jaws and laying into it with devastating power. With the Steed mortally wounded the Highway was dragging the unholy horse beast into the distance our own two behemoths whirled in a thunder, tons of twisted flesh and seething nightmare charging into the distance to close with the source of the boulders You have to understand that we were doing the best we could, we did not see the pattern of escalation, how could we? The board was set but we could barely see but a move ahead, forever desperate, forever reacting, forever confused. Flailing in the darkness, too despairing to hope, too harried to rest. Too proud to simply stop. The tide of blood would flow, and in this war both sides would bathe in it before the end.

A large rhino shaped beast with 8 legs stands on a hill top, a heavily armored forequarters and head is launching rocks skyward Scouts searched desperately for where exactly the bombardment was coming from. Reports from outside said that strange stones charged with glowing green energy were raining down, stones that did not merely shatter on impact but burst apart with tremendous force. Explosions be damned this was tons of rock hurtling in every direction at high speed, it was cleaving through the buildings that remained, further hammering our meager shelters - and threatening the Genesis Engine. Before we had countered every threat, our own crafted champions were defending the city at this very moment. Between the low booms we could hear the high pitched screech of the Steed and the burbling howl of the Krakenwulf, the grinding thrum of the Highway and the bellowing scream of the Hunter Killer. Blood and Ichor flowed and light flashed. But it was not enough, even if our own defeated the howling titans outside we could scarcely expect them to assail whatever it was that shelled us incessantly, especially with the recently revealed looming danger of the Shade. Word came of something in the hills outside the city. A living rock, chewing stone and bombarding us with energy infusing what passed through its internal systems. Aerial support is what was needed here. Something that could traverse the distance at speed, and distract Mortarus while our own wounded titans closed the distance and brought the fight to it directly. For the moment we were scanning our files. There had to be something that could fly in our arsenal. We had several options on file but not a bird of prey was compatible with our available volunteers. But there, a single match - it would not be a bird but a bat. Sparks flew and rubble had begun to fall from the ceiling. We hurled the volunteer into the engine and engaged the Genesis Engine. Circuits blew and fires erupted, the lights went out, a thrumming bellow echoed from the Engine, and a titan on leather wings took to the sky.

The head is simply an equine skull soaked in blood KAIJUNE DAY 12: STEED It came running When Shade blasted the Krakenwulf we thought it lost. We were shocked to find the whimpering Krakenwulf shedding Black Ichor as it dragged itself across the fields, until all that was left was a gargantuan trail of ammonia stinking blood, bile, and ichor - ending with the unconscious form of our stalwart academy volunteer. Shade collected the still shivering carcass of the Horde almost tenderly. Life sprouted everywhere the green liquid dripped from the hideous bug as the silent guardian floated away with its precious cargo. We ourselves retreated to regroup. We had miscalculated severely. Clearly there was some plan that we had interrupted in some way, some plan that was somehow not impeded by the creation of the Genesis Engine, the deployment of our own Titans and the brutal combat we demanded of them. True despair was closer than it had ever been, Hunter Killer and Krakenwolf had been twin beacons of hope, they still lived but the Shade had torn through one of them, a display of terrifying power suggesting that there was a grand scheme at play. Could our own abominations hope to face the Thunderer? The Twisted Father itself? And it was that that held our minds as we readied several other candidates, it mattered not what was happening, we would fight regardless. Then came the word that the Twisted Father had been sighted, we were terrified, but threads of burning hope flared, maybe a secondary gift, maybe we could capture it, force it to reveal more secrets. The sound of gargantuan hoofbeats pulverising the rubble of the shattered city was staccato thunder but it was not our mysterious benefactor that emerged. The Steed came forth, trumpeting bitter sorrow- and the Highway answered, two of the filthy abominations were incoming. We scrambled to ready the Hunter Killer and the Krakenwulf. And then the bombardment began.

a giant locust praying mantis hybrid with a mouth split into 3 long parts with spikes at each end The Academy as we had taken to calling it was progressing well. There were unique genetic markers in our two success stories that were missing in our unfortunate losses and we soon found similar genetic markers in other children "volunteers" and we focused on finding as many volunteers as possible and researching potential combinations for the engine. The attack came as many others had, with little warning and in a manner that we did not understand at first. The thing that flew out of the sky was a spindly many jawed thing, and it was alarmingly small for a titan. At least it was at first. It grew alarmingly quickly - it was draining the land of life. It chose the lushest areas still available, consuming until a barren dust blown wasteland was all that was left. Without food it would not matter that we could fight. we would lose regardless. It had to be stopped - but we had no confirmed options for this fight - none but the two already successful candidates. So the die was cast, we would try again with our existing volunteers. The Krakenwulf had been the most successful by our measure, the hooked and ripping tentacles would do well in securing the winged monstrosity of the Horde. There were no tears this time as the volunteer stepped into the machine, only a look of regret and haunting despair as we shackled them to the centre of the chamber and engaged the living lightning of the Thunderer. The subject transformed as soon as the Engine sparked to life. The process WAS repeatable. We could still fight. We loosed the Krakenwulf to hunt, and after days of following the trail of acres of dust and dead trees it tore Horde from the sky in a shower of gore and Black Ichor and began to feast upon it. Obsidian beak tearing at the now fragile seeming carapace of this latest living nightmare - maybe we could kill one of these damnable things for once, we could not contain our excitement. We exulted. Until the Shade appeared and smote the Krakenwulf like an angry deity.

A giant wormlike beast made of uprooted roadway, plants and mud erupts from the earth, vomiting black ichor from a fiery maw KAIJUNE DAY 10: HIGHWAY It came from the road We separated the volunteers from the rest of the populace. We could scarcely let them run free - we would set up an academy! To care for these volunteers - to carefully select others that could survive the process of the Genesis Engine. Gathering volunteers was arduous, as the population had largely fled as far as they dared, still desperate for the safety that only we could provide but few could like the prospect of losing a young one to the Engine. What we could not explain was the absence of further monstrosities. Or the extent to which they did exist, but were remaining hidden. The Ambusher had been in the marshes below the mountains for months, clearly there had to be more. We sent patrols out as far as we dared, frantically searching for any sign, any disturbance, any potential signal. We were desperate, hunting further and further afield, several false alarms had lost us volunteers to the Engine as we desperately tried to craft a response, wasteful losses of finite resources. The roads around the city were cracked and ruined, barely passable by military vehicles in the best places, chasms and chaos everywhere else. buildings were damaged, and while the behemoths, especially the Ironclad, had left a wide swath in their wake the only activity now was limited to the occasional low rumble as one of the marked off unsafe sections of the city settled further into their destruction. As we ranged far and wide looking for titansign we finally noted the alarming changes in the city itself - the roads were not the same, the ruined roads were changing, not the slow settling of rubble, but surging, the signs had been subtle at first, taken for settling buildings, but now too great to be ignored. The whole highway was shuddering and heaving. Something was using the highway as its very skin, and our only hopes had returned to us, frail, small, disappointingly human.

It resembles a werewolf with tentacles sprouting from its back legs, with two squid sprouting from its shoulders and a wicked beak embedded in the chest KAIJUNE DAY 09: KRAKEN That THING had just snatched our greatest weapon and we'd seen no sign it was even there. Every other titan had made its presence known then wandered into the depths. Judging by the water mud and trees displaced by Ambusher it had been there for months. Had they planned this? How could they have planned this? We searched for days but there was no sign beyond the giant gouges in the sand that marked the path that Muggoc the Ambusher had taken to the sea. There was technology in the hunter killer that we could scarce afford to lose - and of course we would need to rescue our brave volunteer. We needed something to go after it We could scarcely afford the loss. The process of sourcing components for the genesis engine turned out to be a singular one. We had lost several more stalwart volunteers attempting to recreate the hunter killer - it could not be done, and disposal of the mountains of twisted flesh and bone and black ichor was a terrible affair. Clearly the engine could not forge beasts and human in the same way twice, as if it expunged the knowledge with the crafting of the thing, but maybe we could craft something - else. So we needed a new solution, where the hunter killer had been a hammer we needed a gutting knife, a blade in the dark - and so we forged the Krakenwulf. The volunteer was no less terrified than the others, they went into the machine quietly though, weeping silently. When it was finished it was a surprising thing, sleek and lithe where the hunter killer had been hulking and brutish. It was odd for something so large to be so quiet. It was like hearing soft rain cover the countryside as it padded slowly, picking up speed as it sped into the night, straight for the place that Maggoc had dragged the wailing Hunter Killer into the ocean. It looked back once, we could not read what was in those eyes, but it dove into the waters. We found the two volunteers on the beach three weeks later - tiny, pitiful, human, and alive.
