It was interesting seeing the relationships between the colors and textures in these pieces and the landscape elements. There must be some influences there… #northcoastopenstudios2025

I’m very curious about the four bowls in the first photo. I used a color technique that I was fond of as a painter. I initially painted the bowl with bright orange or red, then layered a cool color over that. Warm colors come forward in space while cool colors recede.

This footage was from her Susan Beecher ‘s first time throwing since she has been recovering from shoulder surgery! We have been meeting in her studio to develop some new ideas for her upcoming class. This idea rose out of a video I showed her from @amythepotter

I’m playing with a more graphic style with these images. Not being too literal with the colors I pick. Couple simple plates, one pinched and the other slab rolled. These are very simple forms, I’m also working on developing a plate form with Susan Beecher that is more involved. Video coming!
