I spend a lot of time talking about Hondo & Hondas
When a student casually includes a comment that Galula wrote about the population being the center of gravity, and I am deciding whether to scream or cry.

(Galula wrote of the population as the battleground. It's complex - and great reading. And no mention of center of gravity, BTW)

One hundred percent, today is an Abbey Lincoln kind of day.

I used an open-source app to re-name and organize my 24 Fleetwood Mac albums that have been parked on my hard drive for the last... 10 years. It's that kind of a day.

Had *that* discussion with my Dept Chair.

I’m entirely ok developing, writing & teaching new courses - like these intelligence & Star Wars mashup ones. But they are my intellectual property.
Pay me to develop & write them, and the school can have them.
I’m an instructor. I’m not even tenure-track.

Reading end-of-semester essays from grad students and - on a title page and in a first - a student has misspelled my family name in two different ways. Yes, two errors in one name.

Things that make me want to vomit.

Please stop talking about gray zone warfare. Please stop talking about hybrid warfare. Please stop saying, that’s so fetch! It’s not going to happen.

It’s… not. FFS.

I honestly do not know if my students love or hate when I pull out and share Army field manuals from last century.

Rarely do I share ones from two centuries ago, but that does happen sometimes.

Yes, they wonder how old I am. That's fair.

On May 30, 1942, Manchester, New Hampshire held a massive parade to celebrate the completion of a $1.4 million federal government project to construct a new airfield, Grenier Field.

"But that's like calling me the smartest village idiot. Which includes the part where, you know, you call me a village idiot."

Just got an email from a motorcycle buddy of mine, with a link to a new article about Wagner Group members being rolled up under Rosgvardia - and acknowledging that indeed, in a conversation with them six months ago, I had said this would happen.

It happens.

Can't get my better half to come join Quiltsky or bring her fiber art here, but thrilled that her book is hitting the market and shelves today. She's a baller.

Also - in Star Wars, with the Jedi Council, "The Lost" - some fantasy that only 20 Jedi Masters ever renounced their allegiance to the Jedi Order, in the entire history of the Jedi Order...

... is such a load of shit.

Thousands & thousands of years of an organization, and 20?

Yeaaaaaah, right.

In Star Wars: Clone Wars S06E10, Master Sifo-Dyas has a force-vision in which he foresaw "a great conflict" aka the clone wars & the needs for the Galactic Republic to raise an Army.

Force-visions, as a means of intelligence - were wildly dismissed by the Jedi order.

For my spring Star Wars: Clone wars course, I am writing up a big, broad description of the link between David Galula's Counterinsurgency Warfare: Theory and Practice, and Rhyloth, Onderon, Concordia, Mon Cala, and other misadventures by the Galactic Republic / Jedi Generals.

Love my job.

Four years ago, the FBI released a comprehensive look at lone-offender terrorist attacks & the available data for them - backgrounds, behavioral characteristics, & circumstances surrounding 52 attacks for 1972-2019. Worth reading.

Someday there will be a call for papers on the use of perfidy by Jedi during the Clone Wars, and I tell ya', my in-box is going to be flooded with people telling me my ship has finally come in.
