Whenever I see a blue checkmark on any website my first instinct is that this is a person that cannot be trusted. This is a person who is paying money to have their posts seen - why?
As of right now maybe Bluesky won't let you buy verified this but it still leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

I hate that the blue check thing is coming to Bluesky and I think we should have the option to turn it off built into the site.

Copyright wasn't designed & isn't upheld to protect working people. Stop expecting it to do that. It's not its purpose to do that. Its purpose is to protect people who own things for a living, and to allow them to own ideas so they can collect rent on those ideas and not just on real assets.

You should block ads and skip sponsor spots for your own mental well being. People are really out here taking mental damage for their parasocial sweethearts. Stop this.
