Whenever someone is appealing to the idea of an inherent good or bad in people, be wary, for they might be a fool, or they might be playing you as one.

That isn't to say that people can't be trustworthy, or that there aren't people who are naturally so. Only that it isn't an inherent part of human nature, and that is evident throughout human existence.

It is never the existence of extremes that is the problem, extremes will always exist. It is the mainstream's failure to hold the ministers of those extremes in check that allows them to become a problem.

Tyranny comes quick. Justice, fairness, and prosperity take endeavour.

When enough generations have elapsed that the realities of the past are no longer part of the social consciousness, society is ripe for another fall. People will fight when doing nothing becomes too uncomfortable, but with the pace of change, that is usually too late to avert atrocity.
