My lack of experience firsthand talking to people with these conditions because of the way society shuns them. When I discuss with professionals, symptoms that "could be similar to hallucinations/delusions," even though these things are common with Anxiety, lack of Psychosis rep makes understanding-

Cringe is already am ableist term, so not cringe at all! Anecdotes are what set medical fact in the mental health department and for anyone who cares about that, this is important. Even though we don't know each other and live far apart, this could still benefit people like me too.

I'm all the way in Canada so mot much I can offer and American friend in need sadly :(. Yeah there's so much glorification and fetishization over real acceptance. Mental illness will always be ugly and difficult, that's why we need treatment at all.

I would wager you could end up going through a qualification process by professionals again, I can't speak for if the government covers it, since I would say it is still in the experimental phase. Mental health is also considered an off-label use. tl;dr It is legal for medical use if you qualify.
