Like the idea - not sure I am interested in the fiction book though.

Mehdi - love your work and I would really like to hear your perspective on how “to break with the cycle of abuse”

“…with a view to bringing those reasonably suspected of individual criminal responsibility to trial in proceedings that meet international standards, without recourse to the death penalty. “

Also for example - my family was from Telfair county Georgia. Their representative to the ordinance secession convention gave the opening prayer but vigorously opposed secession. Georgia would later have a referendum on secession which was really close. Looking for these sort of details.

For example - the details of how the United States Army disintegrated and rebuilt itself. What happened to units and forts in Texas, California and the Pacific Northwest in late 1860 and early 1861 - beyond what was happening at the General staff level.

The closest book I have found is Erik Larson’s “The Demon of Unrest.” But it is still missing a lot of the details outside of what was happening in Charleston.

Thanks Kevin - I’ve read Potter’s book and it is good - but these books are more about the causes and major events in the years prior. I am more interested in the forensic details of how the union fell apart in 1860 and early 1861.

Do you know a good book that describes the details of the southern states leaving the Union? From the Southerners choosing to sabotage the Democratic convention in Charleston to the states passing ordinances of secession? I have been frustrated that the books I have read are really not very good.

Is it true that the Kennesaw Battlefield site has the best preserved trenches of any other western battlefield?
