I think that's the issue, that it was "supposed to be so big". People waited so long and the hype was so high, it just couldn't reach the level of expectation people had for it.

It would make an interesting mod. It could have unique dialog from all villagers mourning his death, a scheduled funeral event, and Alex could mourn his grandpas death so hard that all friendship gains are halved and he'd reject bouquets and pendants for a while. Plus a unique 14 heart event.

Yeah, it's coming with the next patch. Soon(tm). Then platform difference can't stop you from having dnd sessions with your friends.
