I hadn't seen Ken Russell's The Lair of the White Worm since its initial release when I was in college! Had a blast talking about it with my co-host on this week's Midnight Cinema podcast!

Erik Rodenhiser and I return to Haddonfield, but this time we're taking an ambulance to the most deserted hospital you've ever checked into! We had a blast discussing Halloween II! 😆🎃

Our Halloweeen episode blew the doors our first week download record!

Just looked at my Letterboxd stats for 2025 so far, and usually this slot is some silent film or a comedy from the 1930's or even a weird cult horror curio. 😆

I saw this in theaters when I was younger! Don't people remember this?

We just dropped our Predator episode, and it is so true that Dutch goes through more Final Girl beats than most horror protagonists! 🤣

Phantasm! It's like floating in and out of a nightmare.

So many iconic moments, one right after another: Death spheres, killer cloaked dwarves, fingers in boxes, demon insects....

We had a blast doing a whole Midnight Cinema episode on it:

We had fun diving into the wild, weird mashup that is Demon Knight! This was the first attempt at a Tales from the Crypt-branded movie and has found a cult following with its cool effects, stacked cast, and Billy Zane chewing all the scenery and props he can find!

If feel like if they tried harder, they could have got at least one more Robert onto the marquee!

Crossfire (1947), a gritty noir procedural set just after the war, involves military men being transistioned to civilian life who are caught up in a murder involving bigotry.

Stick to the roads and stay off the moors!

We had a blast talking about the John Landis film An American Werewolf in London. It has it all, from Oscar-winning makeup, to indelible nightmares of Nazi Werewolves and Muppets, to Dr. Pepper in the buff.

Before James Gunn was making Superman fly or guarding the galaxy he made a gnarly little horror comedy that sank at the cinema, but lives on through its fandom!

So pack your Mr. Pibb and crank the Air Supply because we're headed to Wheelsy, SC for Slither!

A first time watch for me!

I saw a recent local production of Wait Until Dark. The script feels very, very creaky these days, especially in the first act. But, WOW, that climax still has the power to thrill when executed well!

Anybody know if the play 2:22 A Ghost Story will be produced in the U.S. anytime soon? I missed the LA run several years ago and expected it would play New York and then start touring. But so far I haven't heard anything. #theater #playwriting

Isobel Elsom in Ladies in Retirement (1941) was reprising her lauded performance in the Broadway play. The character could have been one-note, but the writing and Elsom give her layers. In the span a few minutes she can be cheeky, flirtatious, wise, stern, understanding and selfish. #noir #filmsky

Ladies in Retirement (1941) Right from its fun opening titles, this gothic/melodrama/noir keeps surprising with interesting characters, lighting, and direction. A great cast of supporting actors orbit Ida Lupino, who gets to hit almost every register as her tightly-wound spinster unravels.
