i guess in the US people are more used to very overt displays, e.g. children must pledge their fealty to the country every day and there are huge military displays at sports events.

I suspect I will never stop using a us querty-like layout even if i move, i'm just so used to compose keys for accents in latin and latin-based IMEs for scripts where needed

I also can't find any info about how emergency alerts work in Palestine. Paltel has their operations center in Ramallah, but the core is in either the UK or Jordan (they claimed to have moved it, but I can't tell) because Israel wouldn't let them import the equipment for the core.

afaict the emergency broadcast system is SMS-based text only. Paltel only operates GSM in Gaza due to Israeli restrictions, so I doubt there's some new audio protocol.

unfortunately it can be very hard to tell which will be best before reading some part of it. e.g. i watched tensura first, then later read the books and learned quite a lot of stuff the author had considered that didn't make it into the anime.

ime the more enjoyable of the light novel/manga/anime adaptation of a story depends a lot on what kinds of details the author included, the plot (e.g. i don't really like long descriptions of fighting in light novels, but they're more enjoyable in manga or anime), and the quality of the adaptation.

I was cursed by watching the anime of "the executioner and her way of life" first instead of the light novel, so once i reached the end of the anime i wasn't sure how to proceed. I really like the novel take on the isekai trope in it.

nyc has some very complicated zoning rules (see map at zola.planning.nyc.gov) but manages to not be entirely suburbs

TIL, I would have expected companies to use a card with a reciprocal agreement with UnionPay if at all possible (Discover, Pulse, JCB, RuPay, or BC Card). I have a Discover card and one of the reasons I haven't gotten rid of it is that it could be useful if I visit china.
