This is largely how I feel about remakes, too. If it’s just prettier then I doing think it’s doing enough to justify its existence. If I want the original experience, I can always play the original. I’d much rather a lesser, but distinct, experience than the same experience I’ve already had.

That’d do it. I think I caught it in LeafGreen, later transferred it to Pearl, then later transferred it again specifically so I could transfer it a third time, into Pokémon Home. The reason it only has three moves is that at least one of those transfers didn’t allow HMs, so I had to delete Surf.

There are also just way more games coming out now than when we were young. If everything in the direct was for me I’d just have an even bigger backlog than I already do.

Earliest one I remember was my dad bringing home a PC that ran Windows 3.11. I remember playing DOS games on it. Gorillas. Tank Wars. The enemy AI in Tank Wars didn't have a difficulty slider, you could just tell from the names. I remember Mr. Stupid, Windless Wit, Rifleman, Lobber, and Twanger.

Unfortunately, it really is almost entirely reliant on time. Fortunately, that does mean you are always progressing (even if it doesn't always feel like it).
