I spend way too much time scrolling thru facebook and posts. I saw this pic of a man that was on my FB page and the photo grabbed me. He lived in France and I loved the composition and light. I messaged him if I could paint it and he said yes. This is what came of it.

"Male Barracoon " - painting progression - This is a take from an Andrew Wyeth painting. He did two actually one was a white woman and one was a black woman. A Barracoon was basically a slave. I wanted to flip the narrative and use a male. My friend Jon Baird modeled for me and I gave it to him.

"Robbing banks" - Watercolor of my dog Winslow in New Mexico. This is where our paths separated for many reasons, but my life changed and he couldn't come with me. It was a very hard decision, but he stayed with my ex and lived a great life.

White - There is no color white in watercolor ( quache but that is not watercolor). I was trained to use the white of the paper as my white paint. This takes mapping out where the painting is going and avoiding the white areas in composition. If you lose the white to a color you can’t get back.

"All lined up" - Strathmere, NJ Shore, watercolor on paper. This was a gift to my sister as a wedding present. We grew up at the Jersey shore in the summer.

"Winter Farm" - Watercolor on paper. I did this watercolor many years ago in Vermont. This was a farm down the road from me. I worked off a photograph and I will never forget taking the photos. I have never been so cold in my life....it was get the shots and get back in the running warm car !
