I took a picture of my palette on my painting stand. For some reason it looks like a room, like the studio space I wish I had to work in. Changing perspective, I saw something I wanted more now than ever.

Life is worth every second you take to observe it. Here is my Queen of the Night in all her glory. If only I could share her aroma.

Finished Knife to Flowers series: #12 Time passing, 11x14”, oil on wood panel

I have so much fun painting this series, it’s such a nice break to be completely loose and free with a palette knife.

I did a 30 minute painting fundraiser for our local art house in Covington, LA. I was the only one that started with a blank canvas and finished with this. I didn’t win but it was fun and I’m looking forward to the auction! 16x20” oil on cotton canvas. #13 in Knife to Flowers series.

Sometimes I have to switch up and make happier paintings. Much as I love painting the No Horizon series, it can be lonely.

Here a nearly finished addition in the Knife to Flowers series: #12 Time passing, 11x14”, oil on wood panel

It’s a small space, but it’s my space to paint. Working on another piece for my #NoHorizon series taken on the Gulf of Mexico a few years ago on my way to Art in the Pass, Pass Christian MS.

Work in progress, another in my No Horizon series, #10 The edge of the end, 18”-24” oil on linen canvas.

Working in layers and glazes, with ample contemplation in the drying time.

“Murder scene?”, oil on linen, 30”x 20”, another in my knife to Flowers series. A whodunnit of horticultural horror, or not. You be the judge.

I have one more step to finish it but it must dry first. I’m just happy with the painting and wanted to share.

#9 “First one, then many” from my No Horizon series, 14”x11” Oil on wood panel.
From time spent contemplating in the foggy Irish Bayou morning. I would sometimes stop here when the fog set in for a few peaceful moments when driving to and from #NewOrleans.

Watering the garden is second to oil painting on my list of most meditative, relaxing, and introspective things to do.

Sometimes I have to stop and stare at a flower for a while and think about their importance to my life. All life.

Way too much global politics. How about a flower.

#9 Alone, Knife to Flowers series, oil and pastel on wood panel, 11x14”. We ask so much and take more, the flower gives and gives. Cut it and you still see beauty.

This was hard for me. I just dropped off two of my paintings as part of a local art association member gallery exhibit, or in my head “I don’t want to sell these, no one will want to buy them” doubt-o-rama obstacle course.

I think of each painting as an individual challenge, here is a larger Nude Study, oil on canvas, 24-30”. I am fascinated by the depth some artists achieve with skin tone, texture, and depth.

I never got to see these bloom but I did get to see them while o was in SD. I was gifted jacaranda seeds to start a bonsai and I cannot wait for them to reach bloom so I can paint them. Wonderful work. The painting I did was from the bay sans bloom.

My friend, a Dr, musician, and artist always cooks exceptionally great Indian food when go over for painting sessions. Once, I painted his spice rack and gifted it to his fascinating parents during a visit from India.

Near the end of #Caturday, here’s a Titian cover of a friend’s cat I painted a while ago, Wilbert #2 oil on canvas, 20-24”. He was a big guy and was in three of my paintings before he passed. I still have some good reference photos though! May Wilbert live on.

Afternoon on Dumaine, oil on canvas, 24-30”. Another palette knife painting in my French Quarter series. Caught in a siren song, I wandered the gilded streets, music conjuring old struggles of lost love.

One of my New Orleans French Quarter series, Busker, oil on canvas 16-20”. This city has layers upon layers of paint lending a colorful, tactile texture where every layer tells a fascinating story.

1st in my series No Horizon, oil on canvas. On my way to Arts in the Pass years ago in MS, I walked out on the beach, the fog embraced all, muting the trickle of waves. All quiet, I took a few pics when the flock appeared and disappeared in a moment in time gifted to me.
