Mistaken release of prisoners is obviously a grave concern. So, it's strange how none of the main news agencies weren't questioning the average of 10 a week being wrongly released early under the Tory government.

On a rainy day, the apples on our tree shine like Christmas decorations!

Yes. People of a certain age can't forget the TV spy spoof "Get Smart", and it's hi-tech "secret" communication devices!

"Timeline cleanse":
The small chrysanthemum plant we bought and put in a pot under our kitchen window flowers every October and just gets bigger and better every year!

Many years back, we planted this flowering cherry tree for its pretty spring blossom, but its special "party piece" actually comes in autumn! 🍂

"Timeline cleanse" ...
In between today's rainshowers, the sunflowers we grew from seed are coming to an end, and the agapathus are surviving bravely.

On a dull cloudy autumn afternoon, our hydrangea is actually more colourful than when it was in flower.

Ivy berries just starting to ripen in the late afternoon sunshine today.

This is a very readable take on Machiavelli, his life, and his world, which proposes a more nuanced view of his motives in writing "The Prince":

OK, I think we need a "timeline cleanse"!

Here's a few snapshots from my walk around our garden earlier today, with lots autumn colours on show:

Maybe it's just me, or maybe it was the inclusion of Bohemian Rapsody and Bill Bailey, but "The Last Night of the Proms" seemed to have a lighter celebratory touch this year.
Brilliant and joyous performances by all involved!

Jenny Saville's charcoal studies in the NPG exhibition were equally powerful, and deeply moving ...

Today, I finally got to see Jenny Saville's breathtaking "Anatomy of Painting" exhibition at National Portrait Gallery (ends this week). So much to see in the flesh"! The huge scale of many of the works (this one is about 2 meters high) is staggering.

Grabbing a few minutes in our garden between rain showers. I'm enjoying the sunflowers we grew from seed, and so are the local honeybees.

A while ago, another leader was also keen on making their mark on their country with "Classical Architecture". This was his favorite architect at the time:

Time for a "timeline cleanse"!
Early evening photo of the white nicotianas I grew from seed this year. Like ghosts, they seem to prefer darkness to harsh sunlight!

The Crocosmia in our garden have finished flowering, but the Rudbeckia are still glowing in today's late afternoon sunshine.

What's best about home grown fruit & veg is that it doesn't look, or taste, like the supermarket stuff.

Just saw this in my local medical centre. A subtle message for Sir James?

We're in a constant battle with slugs and snails, too! I don't use poisons & pesticides, but this seemed to help. Not cheap, but harmless to wildlife and goes a long way!
