One of the last shots of our apple trees for the year. They'll overwinter and we'll see how they do. We grew these pippins from seeds. Some of them are almost a foot tall now. Our little orchard will hopefully make it through! #photography #food #art #nature

End of the season for the land lab. And what a way to cap it off. Look at these beautiful northwestern #Ontario apples! #photography #foodsecurity #nature #gardening

We were out picking the last of the tomatoes this week. Lots of fun. Nothing beats home-made tomato soup, with spicy flavours 😀

Mmm. It's that time of year. Our last event of the summer was about selling vegetables. Everything from turnips to beets, potatoes and more. It feels so strange to see the garden beds empty.

Our tomatoes are plumping up nicely! Pretty soon they'll be ripe and we'll have great lunches and dinners with our #community program. #farming #growing #agriculture #foodsecurity #photography

Lettuce! We've been taking a few heads here and there for the freshest, most delicious salads! #UrbanFarming #LandLab #Sustainable #Agriculture #photography #farming

We've been so busy, that we didn't even notice the tomatoes! #photography #food #growing #agriculture #nature #gogreen #gardening #youth

Lettuce is looking good! Seeing some nice green growth and we ate some delicious salad the other day. Going and Growin Green is the best! #photography #food #farming #growing #food

It's that time of summer! We're starting to see wild #blueberries (the very best!) ripe for the picking. Soon it will be time to grab those big buckets for this time-honoured tradition! #art #photography #food #berries #nature #Canada

Meet the forest's little mystery! Found a Spotted Coralroot orchid deep in the Ontario woods today. This captivating plant is totally unique – it doesn't photosynthesize! Instead, it gets its energy by forming a special connection with fungi in the soil. #art #photography #nature #flowers #fungi

A purple thistle. We love the texture. Like little pom-poms. #art #photography #nature #plants

Red Clover. It's usually a victim of the lawnmower. But it's still a pretty plant and today we thought we'd remember it before we mow them all down. #art #photography #plants #nature

Fireweed. It goes great as a garnish for bbq meats like caribou, and makes a perfect addition to a salad. #food #photography #art #nature #wildfood

Dwarf Red Raspberries. Little berries with lots of flavour. :)

Whoohoo! We're starting to see lots of Saskatoon berries plumping up. #berries #growing #photography #nature #snacks #yum

We've been following the progress of our berry patches this year with excitement and loving every minute of it. We're seeing lots of colours in the blueberries, including some ripe ones (but we ate them immediately). #blueberries #agriculture #food #photography

We're going to make jam this year with our berry crops. But not today. Tonight, it's Angel Food Cake, with a whallop of whipped creme and the most delicious, locally-grown #strawberries. #art #food #nature #gardening #fun
June 30, 2025 at 7:26 PM
Yum! Our first batches of #strawberries are here! And we're so happy! Everyone worked so hard to take care of them over the last couple months and now we get to enjoy some of them. We'll be making jams and spreads this year! They're delicious #photography #art #food #gardening #hardwork #agriculture

We love #flowers. And so do the #spiders. Welcome to the Wild Rose of #Death. Some poor bug just met a grisly fate in the most beautiful of spaces. They wait on these beautiful flowers, waiting for their hapless prey to arrive. #photography #doom #art #nature

Seeing a lot of the beautiful White Admirals this week. Flitting around the bushes and flowers and plants. #butterflies #gardening #insects #photography #nature

It's really inspiring to see more bees this year. We left the dandelions and other flowering plants longer this year so they could eat. We're pretty lucky what we don't use any chemicals. Everything is 100% organic. #nature #photography #bees #berries #climate

We had a torrential rainstorm the other day and we're still cleaning the dirt off some of our plants. But lo and behold! The moment has come! Our #strawberries are ripening! Lots of hard work! So happy to see that bright beautiful red! #food #growing #art #photography #jam #hardwork

We have so many yellow and purple flowers. Sometimes it's nice to just take a moment and watch them. Life is good. #stunday #BlueSkyArtShow #flowers #photography
