re: @dieworkwear.bsky.social's "Some Thoughts on Fashion in 2016" and Cathy Horyn's "The Post-Trend Universe". Although I agree that we've moved from top-down fashion tastemaking to something decentralized, I wonder what the costs are of this engagement being through major social media platforms

I'm a fan of the work of Hyein Seo. While I might not relate as well to her recurring themes of youth rebellion and futurism, I think they're generally executed pretty well. If someone were interested in experimenting more with anither side of fashion, I think her work could be great inspiration.
From Spring Summer 2024 - "Blue Hour". The man on the left is wearing a tight white mock neck t-shirt top, it is slightly translucent in certain parts, particularly at small slits in the back. There is a white strap that runs off the shirt at the bottom right and reconnects into the shirt nearer the front. It is tucked into black pants. The woman on the right is wearing a white hooded windbreaker and a black skirt. From Spring Summer 2015 - "BAD EDUCATION". It shows a girl wearing an oversized grey suit that is draping outwards from her. The grey color of the suit is a very generic, business-like shade, which has been paired with a pink shirt and black slides with the word "LOSER" written across the tab. There is also a white paper bandana around the girls forehead with the words "SCHOOL RUINED[...]", presumably with the following text "MY LIFE". From Fall Winter 2021 - "Of Walking in Ice". A man is wearing a long black coat with some sort of fastener holding it together at his chest, the rest is disconnected, making it almost cape-like. It has a large collar and some sort of hood attached to it. It is worn over a curved pale pink shirt and beige chinos. From Fall Winter 2022 - "Nausicaä". A woman is wearing an oversized light grey hooded windbreaker with an asymmetrical zipper. She is also wearing a large crossbody bag in the same fabric and color as the jacket across the front of her body. It is zipped up to her neck, but the top of the neckline is folded over itself. She has a medium grey beanie with ear warmers on her head.

Highly recommend browsing through Saman Amel's stories. Besides stunning photography, every outfit is incredible. They strike me as effortless, as though all the pieces obviously work together, though I imagine a lot of time and effort was put into each piece.

An outfit consisting of a summery tan suit with a very light blue dress shirt underneath. The dress shirt has the top three buttons or so unbuttoned, along with the shirt cuffs. It looks relaxed and rumpled. A man is wearing a large black overcoat, I think a raglan, that melts off his shoulders and his chest forwards. Underneath is a thin chocolate brown turtleneck, and straight fitting dark grey jeans. He is also wearing what appears to be chocolate brown suede penny loafers. A man is wearing a double breasted black suit jacket with generous lapels that frame his head sharply. Underneath appears to be a black shirt and some dark grey pants with black leather boots. A thin white cable knit turtleneck is layered underneath a double breasted charcoal suit jacket, which is itself sitting underneath a dark grey overcoat with no shoulder and button clasps.
