Shamir is good at what she does. She always has been. Whatever’s asked of her, she accomplishes to the best of her ability—and if her ability isn’t good enough, she’ll work until it is. That’s who she is and always has been. But this… “Cath… Eat.” The shaggy blonde sitting in front of her just continues to stare into the forest, giving no indication that she even heard the mercenary. Shamir sets the plate of food down next to Catherine and steps into her view. “I get it, I do,” she starts, looking into the former Knight of Seiros’ remaining eye, “but c’mon, Cath. You could be in prison right now, or left in the rubble of Fhirdiad.” There’s no joy in explicitly reminding Catherine of the worst day of her life, but the knight had always responded to Shamir’s bluntness before, so maybe it would work this time, too? Catherine shifts in her chair, the crutches laying across her lap scraping together gently, but her gaze remains fixed on a point past Shamir and her voice remains silent. Shamir sighs and starts to walk back towards their shared cabin. “I think about that day a lot, too… What it would have been like to lose you completely. Just… eat. For me.” Another non-response has her continuing back to the cabin. Just as she’s about to enter and forget all about today, she hears the clattering of crutches and the scraping of cutlery. She just scoffs, her mouth quirked in amusement, and walks inside, the weight on her shoulders subsiding ever so slightly.

Alone. Again… It wasn’t like she knew Gandrayda especially well, but something about it left her emptier than usual. … The pulsing blue veins streaking her face refocused her. There wasn’t much time left. She would avenge them. She had to.

If this says anything, I was one of the first 🤣🤣

The manic writing sessions are always so great in the moment, but looking back, they're usually not as good as we think they are, so I get it, lmao.

I'm hoping I can gather some reading strength and get through my backlog (this included) soon 🙏🏻
