It's been a month since my last update, but I've been at it. Slightly behind where I want to be, but with no further disruptions in sight, I hope to wrap the manuscript in 3 weeks. The current chapter I #AmWriting is both challenging and rewarding, as it is the setup to the climax and penultimate.

Closing in on the finish line—five chapters left in the first draft. Once the draft is complete, the focus shifts to revision and editing, where the real refinement happens. Considering sharing a few character-voice excerpts along the way, as a window into the process.

The city slept; a quiet beast that had devoured its meal for the night. Fuel, toxic and burning, belching gas from its innards at the deepest levels. There, people scrounged for every scrap dropped by the masters, eating high above the beast. Neither able to see the other.
