depending on where people stand - for instance, more polarized ppl from the left, mainstream and center camps reject dictatorial rule more strongly (than their less polarized counterparts), whereas ➕polarization ~ ➕pro-dictatorship attitudes among right, rightwing pop, and extreme ppl!

...people are polarized along one of three divides: left vs. right, mainstream vs. rightwing, and center vs. extreme.
On each divide, somewhat different issues predict membership in the opposing camps.

Importantly, affective polarization has diverging correlations with democratic attitudes...

See this visualization of these different understandings: red edges represent negative, and blue edges positive correlations. Parties with positive correlations are evaluated similarly (i.e. perceived as belonging to the same camp), parties with negative correlations are evaluated in opposite ways.
