Since posting this I've discovered (on this platform!) that 'autistic children' is the preferred term by English-speaking autistic people. I would write it like that now.

Well, that's the 'natural way'. But some people are pretty well known and still don't have one. You could try to find someone who knows wikitext and does it for you.

I can tell you that Wikipedians generally do not like people creating pages about themselves. But if done properly, it is often tolerated. I know some academics and writers who created one about themselves (in Dutch though).
