Fascist movements such as the current far right surging everywhere are comprised of people who are or at least accept evil. By lending your vote to them you aknowledge that you too accept evil, or at least tolerate it. I do not tolerate evil, I fight it.
I hope too, as that would imply that at least the current disgusting regime is over.

Morgan Stanley anticipates a devaluation, 1700 pesos to the $ in an optimistic scenario for the government, 2100 for a pessimistic one. This will depend on the election results (October 26). When the US treasury started to buy pesos it was around 1400, so the devaluation can reach 50%.

Today's if confirmed would be the fourth, according to estimates by Consultora 1816 they were $339M until Wednesday, yesterday by other estimates another $200-250M, so up to $589M. Today closing a bit higher still (1466).

Worse than that Ron, the US Treasury is buying pesos to stop the dollar, this seems to be the 3rd intervention, sources say up to $1 billion by now. The dollar is still roughly where it was before that started. Interest rates pay up to 100% but everybody is counting on a devaluation after elections.

The far-right movement is a projection of toxic fantasies that have long existed within a significant segment of society—especially when confronted with complex problems. That 20–30% may be good neighbors, but moral disengagement and motivated reasoning distort their judgment.

When I daydream I think of AI as an arbiter of truth, i.e. the broad consensus of what we as society accept as objective truth, but also outlining the limits of our knowledge. Is it possible at all to tweak Grok to provide desired outliers while remaining grounded on issues where WE ALL agree?

Useful idiot.

Europe. Still good, but the USA is the far right’s playbook here — and they've got a crowd behind them. Add your government’s unacceptable meddling. As you said: never drop your guard.

What a circus of a country has yours become. A banana republic.

I never heard anything that moronic from him, and that's something.

That's the attitude. How can you take these clowns seriously? Or any security guarantees for that matter? They are as much worth as any promises Trump made at any other time.

It's let-us-do-whatever-we-want-to-do-or-I-will-kill-all-of-us day again? Let me mark it on my 2026 calendar.

Yes, you always have to add some visuals or practical examples, abstraction is not for everybody.

People that defend IT algorithms at all cost seem not to mind circumventing constitutional algorithms such as regular and free elections. Regulations are also algorithms, the problem is that they rely on human enforcement and are therefore not as robust as IT ones. But we don't have better tools.

Pretending being that stupid would be so much effort that the only logical conclusion is that this lazy bastard is really that stupid.

Sure, but most of all I cannot stand Johnny's smug, maybe it is just a senile thing, maybe it's just me.

I cannot wait for John Mearsheimer explaining to us in his stupid smug face how futile all of this was... In your fucking smug face, buddy !!!

It sems to me, given that now 15 votes more were given, the result in the 1st round was a "warning" (Denkzettel) by some PM not happy with Merz. Symbolic, but damaging nonetheless, let's see how this plays out, but the local press is maybe overthinking it.
May 6, 2025 at 4:51 PM
Indeed those two demographics are possible. I would rather bet on the latter, and that would be really dangerous. Rightwingers in cahoots with AfD forcing a 3rd round hoping for a bad brain day of Pope Steinmaier calling for new elections. With the latest polls that would be a nightmare come true.
May 6, 2025 at 9:54 AM
I really have a very hard time to make sense out of this. Just blows my mind. My best explanation at this point is a mix of political blindness by the friendly fire shooters and maybe hubris on the part of Merz, who somehow failed to secure the vote behind the scenes.

Scholz' coalition collapsed because it was a bag full of cats, this was supposed to be a well played coalition, nothing out of the ordinary.
May 6, 2025 at 9:23 AM
I don't see traction within the Union to seek an Inter Milan coalition. The threat of new elections should be deterrent enough. I hope that if a 3rd fails Steinmeier will not want to play fair with the AfD, but with his holier-than-thou attitude he might just do that for no good reason.
