I find it mind-blowing that it is literally possible to be thinking about nothing. Or to not be thinking at all. On the other hand my partner can't imagine that I am talking to myself, all the time, in my head.

4321 by Paul Auster. It's brilliant, but I do feel there's another version of my life where I picked a much shorter Auster novel and finished it months ago!
