Ancient toys are such a fascinating topic.

If you want to learn more, this is a pretty decent article:
The mystery ancient toys puzzling archaeologists
The world's oldest toys date back thousands of years – but determining whether ancient children played with them, and how, remains a mystery archaeologists are piecing together.

Thanks, and also you're welcome! It's a super cool find; it's basically the Viking version of a pickup truck toolbox, and it survived 1000 years with a bunch of intact tools in it. We found it when a farmer bonked it with a tractor, and it's still basically fine.

Within an inch of the Mastermyr chest in all dimensions even. Shape isn’t exact, but to get any more accurate, no point in ikea hacking anymore lol

The long one is halfway between the two since it has extra top rails included: dowel the sides and rails together, trim the feet a bit, and cut the ends down even with that. Doweled in an extra 1x2 in the middle of the existing seat boards for demo purposes.

So I did three actually. This is the fast one: cut the ends level with the sides and replace the lid with a bit of 1x10. (Excuse the weirdly lit photo) you can also dowel up the sides and preserve the seat height, which lets you cut the handle bit out of the middle of the seat and dowel those too
