If you are involved in defining an energy strategy for CO2 free sources and you are not taking into consideration either nuclear power or applications in space, then don't bother.

Major scoop from @robinsonmeyer.bsky.social:

Stardust Solutions, the Israeli geoengineering startup led by a team of Israeli physicists, just raised $60 million to develop the technology to artificially cool the planet by reflecting sunlight as soon as the 2030s.

So they’re basically laundering our federal science budget over to the for-profit prison and concentration camp industry?

NSF’s 2024 budget was $9.06 billion.

NASA: $24.875.

NIH: $47.7 billion.

Fund science, not cruelty.
If the GOP reconciliation bill passes, ICE gets through FY2029:

- $45 billion for detention, on top of the current annual budget of $3.4 billion
- $14.4 billion for transportation and removal, on top of the current annual budget of $750 million
- $8 billion for hiring/retention
- Billions more.

Absolutely critical to make Europe's access to space more easy!
A German company is about to attempt the first successful commercial vertical orbital launch from continental Europe.

The attempt heralds a new dawn as Europe seeks to end reliance on the US/SpaceX/Musk.

Story by me in MIT Tech Review

Europe is finally getting serious about commercial rockets
The continent’s first attempt at a commercial orbital launch could be the start of a bold new era that ends Europe’s reliance on SpaceX, Elon Musk, and the US.

Now I want to bypass Paris in TGV to go from my region to another in France lol.
And before 2050 please. 🙏😂
The possibility of bypassing Paris when you want to go from one suburb to another, at last.

I'd like the same for TGV. I'm in the east, and if I want to go north, south or west, I have to go to Paris, take the metro or the RER, then catch another TGV at another station. It's so impractical lol.

Congrats to the Blue Origin team for reaching orbit in the first attempt with New Glenn. Landing the booster didn't work. Seems they lost control after successfully igniting for reentry towards the landing ship in the Atlantic. Next up Starship FT7 tonight at 23:00 CET.

So, Blue Origon ready to launch New Glen and SpaceX ready to launch Starship v2! If there was not so much shit in the world, this would have been a proper start of 2025!
