I do it in mid January (zone 7). Take care not to let the jugs dry up. A spray gun for the hose with a fine mist setting is ideal.

It's zone 7 as a perennial. Should be cut back almost to the ground in early spring.

Do I need a source for a well known historical fact? The Puritans wanted to establish their own communities where they could live under their version of Protestantism, which was more rigid than the state-ordained Anglicanism. They saw the Church of England as way too close to Catholicism.

That's a grand historic misconception. The Puritans left England to set up communities where they could prosecute. They thought the English society was far too liberal.
