The best solutions to addressing K-12 antisemitism often involve building partnerships with school officials and teachers — something that's much harder to do if you think they're proxies for Qatar

I don't mean to pick on the URJ but the way they've been messaging about Israel since Oct. 7 is... somewhat confounding.

Like the actual substance of this piece is a pretty intense condemnation of settler violence but it's couched in sort of goofy terms (it's the Wild West — Bank!)

The new director, a German academic who is not Jewish, then stripped funding from an anti-Zionist graduate student on the basis that research questioning Israel's legitimacy is beyond the realm of Jewish studies.

Lost in the uproar over the simple fact that Carlson gave Fuentes a platform is the reasoning behind it — Carlson wants Fuentes and his Groyper Army to help turn MAGA against Israel.

If Hamas does not return the remaining bodies of deceased Israeli hostages, 45% of Israeli Jews want to restart the war while only 6% say the ceasefire should remain intact

So pro-Israel Democrats are campaigning to win back Dems who are skeptical of supporting Israel by… getting them to help Trump score a massive political victory

Fascinating erasure here of Mizrahi Jews by a chef who led the boycott an Israeli-owned Mediterranean restaurant in D.C.

The notion that Jews are all white people from Europe requires a willful ignorance, especially from someone steeped in Israel/Palestine.

And that was in an era when the Israeli government was actively in favor of peace negotiations and asking the diaspora for support.

When Arafat won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1994, the AJC seemed quite piqued.
September 22, 2025 at 2:33 PM
The Oslo process was greeted with a tepid attitude by organizations like the AJC.

They published a "two views" pamphlet where one view was that of the Israeli government and like 70%+ of U.S. Jews and the other was opposing the Israeli government from the right

@ajcglobal.bsky.social says recognizing a Palestinian state "sends a dangerous signal that terrorism, mass murder, rape, torture, and kidnapping" are acceptable

I’m proud of how my colleagues at @forward.com covered the news, acknowledging and capturing the fact that people viewed Kirk in wildly divergent ways
September 11, 2025 at 1:33 PM
I wrote my newsletter yesterday (before Kirk’s death) about how American Jews have lost our shared reality and I can’t think of a better illustration than this headline from Jewish Insider

The ADL was polling the experience of a subset of Jewish faculty, so none of this is to say the experiences those faculty report are invalid — my point is simply that presenting those experiences as evidence that university faculty *in general* are antisemitic seems poorly substantiated.
September 10, 2025 at 2:52 PM
It's fine to survey existing faculty supporters of the ADL and the Academic Engagement Network to get a sense of what sympathetic faculty view as the biggest problems on their campuses but the publicity basically suggests this is a representative sample of Jewish faculty around the country.
September 10, 2025 at 2:49 PM
The ADL has a new survey claiming: "Widespread Antisemitism and Anti-Israel Bias Reported by Faculty in Higher Education."

But it's basically a survey of faculty who already belong to a pro-Israel advocacy group.

New @reformjudaism.bsky.social post about the war in Gaza calls it of "increasingly dubious legitimacy"
September 5, 2025 at 2:14 PM
I do think there's a problem with insularity and lack of reach on Bluesky so I've been trying to cross-post articles to Twitter but it genuinely feels like a majority of my interactions on there are just... people being openly antisemitic
September 4, 2025 at 8:19 PM
What could this possibly mean? Like obviously many Americans are eating no hamburgers a day so is 10% of the country just housing like 10-15 on the daily?

Glenn Greenwald is over on Twitter referring to the @forward.com as "one of the most pro-Israel Jewish outlets in America," which is just strange — we're actually one of the few Jewish outlets in the U.S. without an overt political stance.
