They had sent me a survey and I responded appropriately. To my surprise, someone called to follow up. Second surprise, they actually can upgrade an existing card. He said, he will look into the training of the support people. Now I have 2 Fidelity cards that are basically the same.

So I guess I basically have to "retire" the old card switch usage to the new card. The other amusing thing is this might the last credit card company that doesn't use different numbers for secondary users.

Now I have two Fidelity Visa Rewards card, the only difference is the rewards level. I call support and ask if I can consolidate them into one. The answer is no. Also double check, still can't upgrade the one at 1.5%

Call support, I'm told they can't change it. But I could apply for a new credit card. So I do, instantly they approve a new card (with higher limit)

Now, I'm minorly obsessed, I keep looking at the side mirrors of cars when I'm behind them and I don't see the driver. Now, I'm wondering, is there a legitimate reason for me to able see the driver in their side mirror?

I know that trucks have a different mirror configuration.

A few weeks ago, I ended up behind car and I could clearly see the driver of the car in front me in their side mirror. My brain immediately said, something was wrong, but I wasn't sure. I eventually realized that this was not typical.

still trying to figure out how my new service name
February 5, 2025 at 10:49 PM
That's what I used to have.

It is as amazing how difficult it is to figure out the current name of the service.

I do know that it is new and it based on DOCSIS 4.0 and the modem is a Comcast modem

I support/use Sonic.net at my rental property because I think they do things right. They used to be my backup Internet here but they (ATT) just don't offer fast enough service to even be considered broadband.

The main thing that I don't get is a static IP address but I haven't had for that yet. I know the various work arounds if needed.

I also hear customer support is better. If I need excellent support I've probably lost already.

I've instead been spending the extra dollars on backup Internet. Think of as array of inexpensive consumer internet services versus a single "business class" service.
January 27, 2025 at 6:55 AM
It's one of their new consumer offerings. $120, 2Gbps symmetric, unlimited data. There are some other features but those are what I care about. The upload speed is the biggest thing.

I've considered business options if the standard offering sucked, but so far it's been reasonable.

Of course, I'm posting mere single digit hours after activation, hopefully the service stays good.

The new service is better and cheaper than my old service from them but I found by accident. I'll give them the grace that perhaps it is soft rollout so the website wasn't fully updated and their staff wasn't fully trained. If that's the case I'm glad they rolled early.

The sales support person apprentently could not find a better deal. But, as I was stumbling around the website to figure out how free unlimited data because I had my own modem I stumbled into the fact that SYMMETRIC 2Gbps service was available at my address.

I also wanted to see if I could get a discount wth a new contract since I was out of contract.
January 27, 2025 at 5:38 AM
Of course, to get here was classic Comcast. I had received emails from them telling them that I could get higher speeds with a new cable modem. So, two weeks ago I ordered a new DOCSIS 3.1 cable modem.
