i will put this simply and briefly. Furries are a fandom. therians and otherkin are groups with actual, ingrained, nonhuman identities. furries do what they do for fun. therians do it because it more closely aligns with our sense of self. it's not hard if you're not being a disingenuous asshole.

It's just difficult to pin down how they truly feel to me sometimes. My feline type has been there since the beginning but I'm thinking I might have also been a fox this whole time? I get pretty emotional over wolves but a yote seems to fit more? Maybe I'm just many creatures in a trench coat lol.

For me it's like my body is just wrong. It doesn't send me into distress or anything, it's just constantly there reminding me I look human and my body isn't capable of the things I should be and it's disappointing. Wishing I had thick fur, a long tail, paws and claws, a snout, digitigrade legs, etc.
