Worth noting that a wooden house on a concrete foundation is likely the least sustainable structure you can possibly build. Because CONCRETE IS THE MOST CO2 INTENSIVE MATERIAL, accounting for 8%+ of worldwide greenhouse gas emissions every year. Forget the wood, the devil's in the cement.

And I wouldn't defend but... Once while staying outside Beijing, I learned that the C Party had ignored complaints about big trucks driving thru town. However they DID permit a new Fancy Big Gate. There was a helluva scene when the gate was found to be 16" too narrow for a truck! That's China.

Having trouble logging in, I must already have looked at it (will look again and report). In the meantime here's an example of a comparative carbon audit. The inputs are to a detailed spreadsheet, based on numbers from EPDs and inventories like Circular Ecology. Simple to make and tells the story.
