Drinking gin, listening to Beach Boys ‘Smile’. That feeling as a postgrad student when you submit a load of stuff & think actually it’ll be better if I discarded everything & did it again. In my mind it’s so much clearer than the prose I have produced. I think Brian Wilson must have felt the same.
