Investigative journalist. I tell stories that make systems visible.
Host of divided. at AfroLA.
Truth. Memory. No performance.
Time to go. Substack and LinkedIn exclusive as of today. My question: why engage in something we all hate and agree is toxic?

It’s telling that most people know more about Taylor Swift’s legal affairs than the documented history of autistic people being marginalized, exploited, and killed. That disconnect isn’t harmless. It shapes whose lives we value—and whose we ignore.

There’s a lot in here most don’t know. Trust me when I say you should know this now if you actually want to make positive change.
On April 16, U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy called autistic kids severely impaired, claimed autism was preventable, and said most autistic people could never contribute to society.
Autism was never the threat. The narrative was.
RFK’s speech about an “autism epidemic” echoed a decades-old script – written by medicine, media, nonprofits and state power – where fear passed for science, myth became law, and autistic lives…

Living without labels is hard. It starts with biology and gets reinforced by society.

But when we move past them, come together, and treat others the way we want to be treated, it changes everything.

It’s worth it. And we need it now more than ever.

Funnily enough: the main reason I dislike platforms like BlueSky and X has nothing to do with echo chambers or creating a platform for dehumanization and throwing smack from the cheap seats, though they are good reasons…

…it’s that I can’t do nuance in less than 300 characters.

Time to now learn.

It should not matter what your politics are, how much you resent the system, or who the victim was. Cold-blooded murder is still cold-blooded murder. Justifying it? Excusing it? That’s horrifying.

Dehumanization thrives wherever people abandon common decency—on both the left and the right.

Why did we play competitive sports as kids and keep score? To learn this: Life has winners and losers. If you can’t lose with grace or learn from mistakes, you’ll stay stuck in the same losing cycle.

A metaphor for the last month? You tell me. Want to win? Do the hard thing: listen and learn.

People act like centrists are scared to pick a side. Nah, it’s that too much of a good thing—on either side—can backfire.

You can support LGBTQ+ rights but feel pronouns are a bit much—character over label.

You can want border security but think separating families or banning religions is wrong.

Published an article on Election Day for AfroLA that’s even more relevant now. Did we vote with clear minds or just emotions? Millions of liberal voters didn’t show up. It’s a tough look in the mirror. Read it on AfroLA’s Medium page.
