Math for predator-prey dynamics. Although imperfect, pushed the boundaries of ecology like just a few.

MacArthur & Wilson (1967): Island Biogeography Theory. Similar to what happened to Hawaii or Puerto Rico, as Benito said. Tourists move in, locals priced out.

Alexander von Humboldt (1769):

Big time jump here, but he connected biodiversity to altitude and latitude and illustrated them with awesome sketches. Probably one of the firsts to document human impacts in the landscape. He served as a great inspiration to a young Darwin.

Last week I had the chance to talk a little bit with highschool students about climate change and inequality at CasviSchool.

I left more optimistic than when I entered. Their curiosity, concern and commitment to tackle these challenges inspired me, they are ready to press for a change.
