My appreciation of Jack has grown enormously over the years. She’s now one of my favorites in Mass Effect 2.
Initially, I was put off by her abrasive side. Now? I love it. It’s great when characters challenge the player in games.

While I understand the assertion that Mass Effect 2 is a narrative detour, and don’t necessarily disagree, it is, however, a thematic progression from ME1.
What we lose in plot progression, we gain in reasons to *care* about the Milky Way’s denizens; which ME3 needs to function.
