ARLnow's Greatest Comments
@arlnowgreatesthits.bsky.social
Not everyone reads ARLnow comments. This account, unaffiliated with ARLnow, provides screenshots of the "best" comments while heralding the advertisers who make such content possible! Links to each comment appears in the alt text for each screenshot.
Might be time to resume watch. Thanks for the tip @veritybusly.bsky.social!

If you find yourself thinking of disemboweling someone, reach out to the fine folks at Livesay & Myers and get their opinion, given they sponsor content like this.

Maybe the moderator got laid off or the AI is busted. In any case, enjoy this racist and xenophobic piece courtesy of The Kensington neighborhood fall festival (what, no trans hate?). Come on down and rake some leaves, have some cider, and burn some crosses.

Comment of the day from the swamps of the Arlington GOP's fan club.

Live shot of moderators processing with comments on today's Morning Notes featuring items on transgender rights in #ArlingtonVA Public Schools and Columbia Pike diversity.

This pro-gentrification message brought to you by Arlington County Fair: arlingtoncountyfair.us. Even if you've been priced out of the county, stop by and have a look-see.

Even trolls on right-wing blogs agree - Trump is a fascist.
August 6, 2025 at 11:50 PM
Seeing a headline like this in the NY Times makes one appreciate that ARLnow is no longer a daily source of trans hate. Keep it up!

Sadly, you just can't keep the xenophobes down in this county. Fortunately for them, ARLnow is at the ready to publish their thoughts in perpetuity and they have many advertisers willing to fund it - like Arrowine. Hate migrants and like booze? Arrowine is for you!

With the comments now reformed on Arlington, VA's right-wing blog, expect more of this kind of thing in the reporting. Seriously, is this the best photo you could muster or was it the tried and true choice to rile up the (R) base?

Without so much (R) hate, it's easier to spot useful comments like this one. Keep it up! We'll overlook this was in response to noise from a right-winger with a blackface avatar.

ARLnow Pitchbot?

Camp or delusion? Whichever, it's better than what used to be commonplace. It must be hard to be an (R) when decades of (D) governance result in the safest county in the country. Keep it up! This content funded in part by Cook Bros, the self-proclaimed "#1 design-build remodeling contractor."

With most of the hateful trash now gone, we can highlight actually great comments. This one provided an interesting history of some bus lines that are going away. This content was funded in part by National Landing - City Life Reimagined (kind of like the reimagining of the ARLnow comments lately).
June 28, 2025 at 8:50 AM
The days of having to choose which of the many hateful posts to feature seem to be over. Now stuff like this has taken its place: "elevated discussion", ARLnow-style, without the hate. This account may be able to take a hiatus soon. Keep it up!

Today we'll take a break from highlighting hate to observe that San Francisco and Cambridge are not sending us their very best.

ARLnow is a playground for xenophobes. That transphobia has receded shows that pressure can work. More pressures needs to be applied, including to advertisers like Industrious, who funded this content in part. Ask 'em if you have to be a right winger to rent from them, then rent from someone else.
June 23, 2025 at 12:01 AM
Though transphobic content is in decline, there are still occasional posts, like this victory lap regarding the Alito court's decision on what was otherwise a fairly clean day. This content was paid for in part by National Landing, nee Crystal City.

Ever wonder what keeps xenophobes awake at night? Thanks to the fine folks at Culpepper Garden, who funded this in part, now you know.

This is how MN occurs. If you can't bring yourself to swear off this hateful right wing propaganda site, then shame on you. And shame on every advertiser who does not speak up (see a list in alt text). Vision Zero funded this in part!@arlcountyboard.bsky.social why does Arlington support this site?
June 18, 2025 at 1:08 AM
Tired support for killing millions from ARLnow's favorite fossil. These people have decades of experience hating others and it shows. This content brought to you by Vision Zero, which is a surprise given Arlington County claims not to advertise on this haven of hate speech. Do better, Arlington.

What do you do when you post an LGBTQ+ article on your local news blog but you've spent your whole career catering to hate-filled right wingers?
June 16, 2025 at 4:26 PM
Right wing lies hosted by ARLnow - all day, every day. This gem is from a commenter they celebrate as "elevating" the conversation. Daily hate and dishonesty. In realty, the killer is a Trump supporter and evangelical Christian. This content sponsored in part by Keller Williams realty.
June 16, 2025 at 1:11 AM
Nothing better shows the right wing tilt of ARLnow than what they moderate. In these snips, a frequent right wing commenter with a blackface avatar hints at violence. This is not taken down. An acceptance of that offer from a left leaning commenter is nixed. They are essentially the same message.
June 15, 2025 at 12:01 PM
Got a tired, hateful, (R) trope? Arlington's right-wing news blog, ARLnow, will host it for you forever for free! Just post your right-wing thoughts to the comments section or submit a right-leaning column. Thank the fine folks at The Law Offices of Ryan Quinn for supporting this content in part.
