Psalm 22 begins "My God! My God! Why have you forsaken me?"

In the Gospels of Matthew and Mark, Jesus yells this question from the cross.

Psalm 22 also has enemies dividing the speakerl's garments among them, which is a crucifixion story

At the time the Old Testament book of Job was written, conventional wisdom was that bad outcomes were divine punishment for misdeeds. Job refutes that .

For modern readers, Job's claims are obvious: Job has a straw man sound to me, probably to many others.

Maybe the Book of Job changed some minds.

In one of the ickiest passages in the Bible, 2 Kings 20:19, Isaiah tells Hezekiah that Babylon will capture Jerusalem and castrate his son and heir.
Hezekiah says"All good, not in my watch!"

My goal is to be brave like Catholics who have dedicated themselves to God. I cannot do it physically, but I do have faith.

If I understand correctly, Christianity equates the capstone with a stumbling block

I have a hard time getting my head around this, but the statements of Jesus about coming again, the parosia, do not contract statements about salvation. And there is no time limit. So various followers of Jesus could believe these things, and nothing hinged on a prediction that refused to happen.

"...[All] of life is a symphony of successive losses. You lose your youth, your parents, your loves, your friends, your comforts, your health, and finally your life. To deny loss is to lose it all anyway, and to lose in addition your self-possession and your piece of mind."

He nailed it!

My wife has died, my dogs and cats have died my favorite brother has died, I am taking chemotherapy for metastasized prostate cancer.

Along comes Isaac Asimov with a passage from his novel, Nemesis written 80 or so years ago but as though intended to cheer me up!

"He could feel it in the tendrils of his intestines.", from "Nemesis: A Novel", by Isaac Asimov.

My nomination for the weirdest reflection by an Asimov character.

And, Ewww! 😧

If your argument for complying with the 14th amendment in regard to birthright citizenship is that it is inconvenient, maybe impossible, then your only legal recourse is to repeal it .

Otherwise, you support illegal acts, funded by federal tax dollars.
