Is "the AI race" even the right framing? Conflating compute capacity with AI leadership obscures the real question: what do we actually want to do with it? The UK was never going to outspend hyperscalers. The advantage should be outthinking them.

'Dynamic duo' undersells it slightly. Batman needed Robin for backup. Most of us need AI because we've got champagne ideas and lemonade-stand execution skills. Finally, the universe provides.

Genuine question: is the bigger constraint in Pakistan's startup ecosystem access to capital, or access to the networks that make capital accessible? They're not the same problem, and they need different solutions.

The 161% AI jump is the headline, but the real question is whether this capital is building European AI infrastructure or just funding applications atop American foundation models. Encouraging numbers. The sovereignty test comes next.

The question I keep coming back to: if Commerce identifies a state law as "obstructing" but the state argues it's actually more protective of citizens, who defines obstruction? That's where this gets properly messy.
