The linux guys def still exist, I occasionally get them trying to correct me or thinking they know better even though I've been doing this for years now. But they're a dying breed for sure. Muuuuuch less common than when I started out at least.

It's a mix between being overdramatic, ppl being misled into using distros that are actually too hard for newcomers, and really unfortunate driver support issues that do make it hard for some. All 3 are true in different cases but some ppl do genuinely end up eith a real tough time comparatively.

Overall this isn't too bad but it may be smart to run man for the tools ur about to use. It shows built in manual pages so u can learn a lil about them. That way ur making sure ur not about to run something that might break ur system. Especially true for using sudo or working with system files

Depending on ur use case gameconqueror might work. It's not compatible with cheat tables though so if u need that then unfortunately that's not gonna cut it.

I have no idea how he could tolerate it much less *liked* it. Cause I would dryheave every time I went into the bathroom agter he showered. Thankfully I am far away from that house and everyone who lived there now 🙏

Omfg on this, a former roommate of mine used to have one, i forget the brand, it was so bad the entire HOUSE would sink for hours and smelled rancid. Not even just like musk or whatever, it smelled like something rotten was drowned in cheap cologne.

And has some settings u can mess with to give it window management rules to have something like a tiling WM *somewhat* easily with full desktop environment features out of the box.

There's quite a few options! There's cinnamon, the one provided by Linux Mint as default and available in a lot of repos. There's XFCE which is more lax on resources and great for low end machines. And my personal fave is KDE plasma! It's feature rich, has a bunch of nice customizations (1/2)

It's likely fine because it's the same cpu architecture! The only thing is there will probably be small optimizations specially for the old system's processor that won't work on this one and may cause little slowdowns here and there.
