Independent trader. Vol and macro.
It was huge in the UK at the time. He was one of the biggest personalities in UK business. I remember it well. Big changes to pensions regulations after that

South Africa has worked against US interests in both the Russia and Middle East conflicts. They have a right to do what they want, but the US doesn't have to like it.

Thanks, I'll gladly take your word on the fundamentals.

I'm a shorter-term swing trader, but everything works better when the fundamentals are good.

Thanks! Was slow to pick up that earnings release, didn't look like a blow-out on a quick scan. Interesting chart on $ELV though...

Seems like the sector is affected, so guessing something political happening. Sold half into that $300 bid, so you can be sure it goes a lot higher now to make me feel silly. You're welcome.
And thank you @capitalobserver.bsky.social for the idea.

This is the Oxford students' stated agenda. Doesn't say anti-war, only says pro-Palestine. And Thawabit specifically. Which was written by the PLO in 1977 in a way that, deliberately, can only be achieved by dismantling of the state of Israel.

UN estimates 350,000 dead in Syria, notes "certainly an under-count". Villages were gassed, not exactly precision bombing.

We're all out and it's only gone 7pm... second line exhausted, as is the lion who spent 2hrs roaring at every approaching threat

Yes, makes sense. MDs value the basic. Where we had headaches in implementing the cap was actually with the juniors. Hiking their basic wiped out their bonuses. They had come into the biz on tall stories of big bonuses, wanted to get stock as a badge of honor. MDs were scarred by 08 and wanted cash

The main effect I observed was actually quite favorable to bankers - our basic pay doubled at the expense of bonuses, so as to give mgmt enough room to maneuver on total comp, which was unchanged. But behaviorally we still had to jump through all the same hoops to stay employed.
