Yeah that's a good point. I suspect that wood resources were so overwhelmingly lacking on the plains for the settlers' construction and fuel needs that they probably never considered tree husbandry beyond fruit trees. What do you think?

Right, once politics gets on the financialization train it’s very hard to get off. Probably a transhsitory of imperial growth and downfall in there somewhere.

This whole thread seems more an argument for a national defined benefit retirement plan. If you want to leave a little room for people to defer even more present spending by buying some CDs, fine, but the basic dilemma is how to provide for the future w/o having to be a capitalist savant, no?
