With my best dirty look, the one I'm still perfecting, I push my way past him and stomp into the living room. He slams the door and follows after me. "Don't call me that!" "Fine, Bayley. What can I help you with? I’d offer you something to drink but I’m all out of goat’s blood.” See, bad idea. I knew it. How did I talk myself into coming? "Oh my god you're an ass." I need to say it. Just ask the question. It’s why I’m here. I pace around the room. I'm too agitated to sit.

It looks exactly the same as the last time I was in here. Unmade bed showing the black sheets, black and gray comforter pushed to the side. The walls covered with posters of his favorite bands from the nineties. Tool and Sublime, Third Eye Blind and Alice in Chains, The Toadies and 311. The soundtrack of my childhood. Where there aren’t posters, there are skate decks, some are his, beat up and battered so much you can’t tell what the art on them was. Some are brand new, two signed by Stacy Peralta, one signed by Danny Way and one more (my favorite) signed by Bucky Lasek.

I’m not sure what he means by that and I don’t like the way it makes my heart beat a little faster. It’s a rabbit hole I could spend my whole life trying to dig myself out of and I don’t want to drag Domenic down with me. I’ve already done enough to him. “I’m sorry too, you know. I don’t think I ever said it.” My breath is heating up the tiny space under the blanket, the sensation making me claustrophobic. I pull up the blanket to let some fresh air in. “You don’t have to-” he begins but I interrupt him because if I don’t say this now, I’m never going to say it and I don’t want to regret not saying something to Domenic the way I regret saying something to Roman.

I actually have the word today, go me!
“Taylor!” I yell before she can disappear in her house, I don’t think she’s going to stop but she does. “You’re moving in with them, aren’t you?” I know the answer before she opens her mouth. “They offered, what was I supposed to do, say ‘no’? I won’t have to wake up as early, I’ll save on gas. It works out for everyone.” I can tell from here that she’s gripping her doorknob, bracing herself for the tirade she assumes I’m going to launch into. I don’t though. As scared as I am for me, I’m happy for her. “That’s great. I’m glad.” My voice cracks on the last word.

Roman didn’t agree with the way Declan and Lily handled Silas’ disappearance. He felt there had to be a reason behind him leaving, they simply weren’t aware of it. He never gave up trying to find him. Every few months he would send an email, or a text to the number that was the closest they came to finding him. He never got a response but it was never undeliverable either.
