That seems unusual, why would he do that?

Thanks for the info, didn't realise Lachlan owned Nova.

Which station? News has a minor stake in ARN, bit of a stretch to call it Murdoch news when Stokes owns more of them.

Even by Victorian Liberal Party standards this whole shebang is deeply weird.

Thank you. I found the write up in the Weekly Beast today a bit weirdly positive.

I've seen that chart a couple of times and never noticed the sarcasm belt before. Fuck that's good.

If Winter immediately and successfully moves a no confidence motion in Rockliff and Rockliff resigns, it would seem logical instead of going to another election. If Rockliff refuses to resign then we're in interesting territory. Likely give Rockliff a chance to return to Parliament before a sacking?
August 7, 2025 at 5:04 AM
...would be the obvious next move for the Governor. Likely the Greens would abstain on any no confidence motion, and there would not be an absolute majority against Premier Winter who could carry on governing. 2/2
August 7, 2025 at 1:30 AM
There's a difference between Winter having explicit confidence and supply arrangements for 18 seats, and a working majority enabling Parliament to function. Should a no confidence motion immediately pass against Rockliff, commissioning Winter to see if he can maintain confidence of Parliament... 1/2

I don't love it but understand the logic. He wants to be Premier without negotiating with the Greens. If a motion of no confidence gets up, he asks the governor to commission him. To be removed, the Greens need to vote no confidence in him. They probably won't do that.

Too low or too high?

Yeah, thought this was top 20 bound. Probably will be beaten by Beds are Burning, but I'm guessing that's the last explicit protest song left

Matildas followers on Twitter, then BlueSky: These are smart, well informed people who I would enjoy the company of.

Matildas followers on Facebook: These are the most hopeless people on earth. Please find a different hobby. Like breathing through your nose.

Just thinking about Frank Lowy at the 2015 A-League Grand Final for no particular reason.
July 14, 2025 at 3:33 AM
Is there a time series of that Greens figure? I swear it was in the high 70s a few cycles ago but can't remember where I read that.
June 24, 2025 at 9:43 AM
Yeah, it's certainly interesting. I hope it's successful.

But I fear what might be in store come round 1 next season.
June 3, 2025 at 9:34 AM
Let's put it this way. Exclusive details of a police investigation into Riku Denzaki just happened to be released to the Herald Sun front page on the Monday after the grand final.

My spidey sense is this won't end well for us and we were better to keep the private dialogue private.

So, he's now got a win percentage over 70%. But the stat is measuring how low it EVER got across 300 games. So Duncan won his first two games, lost his third which dropped his percentage to 66.67%, then won at least his 4th and 5th games, and from there his win percentage never dropped below 66.67%.
May 23, 2025 at 10:53 AM
Took a hell of a long time to figure out what on earth this stat meant.

The fact we lost there in 1995 remains insane.

That's a very long email.

What are the financial penalties?

Love Rob Waters suggesting we take our minds off the royals and focus on the footy, to which the proud republican Phil Cleary let's out an instant and enthusiastic "Yes!"

I've definitely come across this problem inside the booth as well.

It deeply offends me as a stickler for process and believer in the virtue of numbering every box. But on the scale of things, it's bloody great that's one of the biggest bugbears you can have with our election administrators.
