In 1710, Pylyp Orlyk drafted the world’s first democratic constitution, establishing separation of powers.

On this day in 1996, Ukraine’s modern constitution was adopted after a 24-hour session, securing the foundations of its statehood.

how do we face fascism? …the followers of “The Family” believe that Christianity has been wrong for 2,000 years, because it turns out that God does not push us to focus on the poor, but on the elites.
La Familia lleva años minando la democracia en EEUU. Jeff Sharlet cuenta en un libro (@capitanswing.bsky.social) cómo opera esta red secreta cristiana y cómo el fundamentalismo se ha adueñado de la política norteamericana.

This is also the source of most probelamtic human-bear interactions.

A dark cloud is heading to Burning Man 2025 in Nevada.

Ukrainian artist Liosha Say’s installation “Get Ready!” uses lightning and the sounds of real explosions from Zaporizhzhia to visualize the threat Ukraine lives under daily.

The message: this storm is real—and it’s not going away.

How Ukraine’s drone attacks on Russian airfields could derail Russia’s war efforts
Operation Spider Web does not change the Ukraine-Russia war militarily. But the successful Ukrainian drone attacks do bring Russia’s military weaknesses and miscalculations into sharp focus.

Ukrainians have decided to fight for their state--Pu couldn't make them surrender, Trump can't either. Western pontification on the cost-benefits of Ukrainian surrender is moot. All Westerners get to decide is whether to help punish Ru for the aggression and what they'd do if Ru attacked them.

Laments about how Ukraine was a "bridge" between Ru-West and hopes it could reprise the role ignore what Ukrainians want. Ukr rejected Ru's autocracy and have chosen to align w EU democracies. They've sacrificed a ton to defend the choice. Wanting to stuff them back into your euphemism is offensive.

Both Trump and Pu are miscalculating due to their deep misunderstanding of Ukr politics. It's very difficult to imagine a scenario where a russian puppet gets elected in Ukraine. But they'll keep pushing this nonsense. After all, Pu expected that Ukr would greet the invading Ru troops w flowers.

Question: What are the NATO rules or articles, if they exist, regarding intra-NATO aggression, annexation, invasion, of one member state against another?
In a deranged post, Trump sent markets into another death spiral after declaring a national emergency over Canada's tariffs on electricity, imposing more tariffs, and calling the U.S.-Canada border an "artificial line" in a push for annexation.
