Really enjoyed how I'm expanding portuñol by mixing in English when I speak, in my professional role, with members from Brazil and Portugal. We write mostly in English, but they pepper in Portuguese and I do the same with Spanish.

My colleague Greg Cochrane has been following the impact of the LA Fires and the reaction of the media and the music industry since day one. For his latest piece, this one for the RISJ website, he talked with three journos that covered the fires.

"is attempting to simplify"
"developed a tool to streamline"
"aims to more or less provide everything a homebuyer needs"
"sets out to simplify the process of homebuying"

and that's only a sampling
The new tech startup designed its platform around the belief that social data, such as age, education, and income demographics is more influential to prospective homebuyers than the layout or physical conditions of a home.

An OCJN member from South Asia recently told me their outlet's attention is split between political turmoil and extreme weather. Rain and elections. Cyclones and budgets.

The question of our time for media outlet will be how to *effectively* cover both climate breakdown and political unraveling.
