Very true! I’d forgotten about that story. Think it’s time I re-visit the collected works. Never saw the movie, need to take advantage of the streaming era and correct that.

The ending had me all twisted up inside, and I was a kid, and couldn’t stop obsessing over it. After having read dang near every other piece of Twain writing before this novel, I was just gobsmacked.
