Ive never heard a laptop sound worse. The problem preventing it from booting was that some ribbon cables were corroded and needed a clean. Sadly the pointer nub ribbon was a complete write off. Ill keep it in the laptop until i find a replacement. The noisy fan was easily dealt with using WD40

Runs Doom OK, but has a few lags. Unsurprising, since its basically running a glorified 486DX
